Freelance Writing? Yes It's Real!
Where do I begin? I've been looking for work as a freelance writer for the past 2 weeks and my luck isn't adding up to triple 7's. More like negative 7's; I'm unemployed, my rent is due in a week, my bachelors degree from the University of Phoenix in Information Technology is worthless, and I'm so stressed out that I can't even think straight. I can't even type 10 pages everyday, like I always do, into my fiction novel anymore! I do, however, want my all my money back from the University of Phoenix Online!
I'm registered on web sites elance.com and getafreelancer.com as username "hawaii777." Unfortunately, it seems like or looks like the clients on both of these web sites select the lowest bidder to complete their writing project(s). These sites are 100% real because you don't have to begin work on any project until the client pays at least 1/3 of what he's asking for up front. Because I am a fast typist with a sharp mind, I was hoping to take on at least 5 different writing projects and gross a minimum of $2000.00 dollars every 2 weeks. Some clients pay $0.10 cents per word whereas other clients pay upwards of $1000.00 dollars for the entire writing project that might have a strict deadline of 4 days. I can seriously do the work but I'm not being selected as the triple 7 "winner." I'm being overlooked by people in India because they bid so low and it's not like I'm charging extremely high for the project i.e. the clients budget is $500.00 dollars and I'm not placing my bid at $500.00 dollars for the writing project. The registered users from India however are placing their bids around $30.00 for the same writing project I put a $150.00 bid on and of course, the client always selects the people from India.
Where have I turned to? Well, I've turned to several web sites like hubpages and hopefully I can generate enough revenue, I'm hoping to bring in at least $1000.00 dollars extra each month, just writing and blogging for several different web sites. I love to write, it's my passion, and my 70 words per minute typing speed with minimal 3 errors also speeds up my productivity.
The world does need writers and bloggers and it will need a whole lot more to meet the ever-growing public wide area network (WAN), the Internet. There are so many web sites out there that the technology world had to create the IPv6 protocol to meet the demand of future web sites because the current IPv4 is slowly becoming exhausted and soon there will be no space on the Internet for anymore new web sites. Thus, IPv6 will create 6 billion more spaces, or enough online space to accomodate individuals and organizations that are dying to get a web site, which means, more writing and blogging jobs.
I'd like to work as a freelance writer or a full-time writer and editor for a company here in Honolulu, Hawaii. In the meantime, does anyone know of other web sites where I can register as a freelance writer? Your information is much appreciated!
Update: Okay I finally found and completed my first freelance writing project. The entire project took me less than 2 hours to complete and I earned a whopping $270.00 dollars. I was so happy, this is most money I made in my life and in such a short time too! This project consisted of 5 articles, 4 of them original with a 500 word count, and the other one, a re-write. The re-write, which took me 5 minutes, was $30.00 and each of my 4 original articles was $60.00 per article. Now I want more writing projects! $270.00 dollars in less than 2 hours? You can't beat that. I definitely know now that freelance writing IS real!
