Updated on August 10, 2016

Industrialist Ghanshyam Sarda Supports Jute Industry Venture

The scenario of the jute industry in West Bengal and India certainly needs to improve. With the very recent murder of the CEO at the Northbrook jute mill, the state of the industry is in doldrums. Northbrook is one of the most important jute mills in West Bengal and the murder has created a great setback for the industry. The murder has sent great shockwaves to the industry and shaken it in a big way. A variety of pay related disputes have been hampering work at the Northbrook jute mill for a while. A horde of miscreants attacked the CEO from all ends and murdered him in broad daylight.

Off late, the state and central governments have hardly done anything for the development of the jute industry. The jute industry is going through a worse phase where new orders have not reached the factory owners and dealers. Previously, a fine variety of orders used to come from the central government but it has reduced completely. Many of the jute mills are stacked up with materials but due to non-procurement of orders, the mill owners have borne huge losses.

Ghanshyam Sarda is one of the top class jute barons from the state of West Bengal. Owning several jute mills from across the country, he has proved his credential as one of the market leaders from the segment. At this time of severe crisis, he completely supports the industry and wants to stand by it in every way. More than 12 lakh citizens are dependent on the jute industry for their livelihood. Around 2 million citizens would be affected if work in the industry stops completely. The Northbrook jute mill has many workers in all and most of them have lost their jobs as a part of the setback.

Multiple unionism has also led to the furore in the industry. A multiple number of unions are found in the jute mills which results in considerable political interference. The state government of West Bengal was already informed about the crisis in the jute mills but no attention has been paid up till now. Many of the mills in the state of West Bengal have closed down and certainly more will follow. The members from the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group are quite worried about the problem in the industry and want the stalemate to end at the earliest.

Ghanshyam Sarda is one of the leading business entities from the city of Kolkata. The members from the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group wants the deadlock to end at the earliest.
