Giveaway Ideas for Your Next Company Event

Updated on July 3, 2014

How I helped clients with corporate events?

  • Increased lead generation
  • Better conversions
  • International branding
  • Low investments
  • Easy plan layouts
  • Absolute budgeting
  • Year-on-year campaigns

My Marketing Experience

Businesses and marketing go hand in hand irrespective of the industry you operate in. And during the last 5 years in corporate branding and marketing, I have learnt that going beyond the traditional and tested methods is the best way to succeed.

Recently one of my clients asked about perfect giveaway ideas and I couldn’t help but wonder if there’s any such list. Will a universal marketing approach work for all businesses? What can companies achieve with such a list?

For over a decade I have believed that no two company events are identical. They vary in huge terms and so will there giveaway items for these events. Nevertheless, I still have a list that can help companies that cannot afford to hire marketing or advertising firms for these events. Here’s a list of items that I will recommend.

My List

  • USB Flash Drives

There was a time when my floppy disk was the most valuable thing in the world for me. However, times changed and technology came with astounding storage options including CDs, DVDs and flash drives. And now that you can get such flash drives for less than a dollar, I think that they make great additions to your event.

USB flash drives are available in many shapes, colors and storage spaces, but I will recommend that you choose performance over looks.

A special tip: Keep a digital copy or brochure or company video in these drives before the giveaway event.

  • Glow in the Dark Stuff

A large part of your corporate giveaway event planning depends on the kind of business you are in and what you want to achieve with the event. A few years back, I was working with some really interesting youth brand and thought of glow in the dark items. They created quite a stir and helped the brand increase leads by 30% in 2 months.

You can pick up almost any simple item and make it glow in the dark. I have already tried bracelets, tumblers, rings, cutlery, and sticks.

A special tip: If your event and brand is around the serious corporate tone, stay away from such items.

  • Tech Accessories

In a world where everyone loves and uses some sort of gadget, I think that it is absolutely brilliant to give away tech accessories in you corporate events. I mean that there are so many choices that you will have a hard time choosing one over the other. I suggest options like stylus, screen cleaner, phone stand and disk cleaner within the affordable category.

Tech accessories work well for all kinds of businesses. I believe that they fall under the safe category and are easy to personalize.

A special tip: You can even make combos for tech accessories.

  • Bottles

When I suggest bottle for company events, a lot of my clients question it. Actually a lot of people think that water bottles, cups and tumblers are age-old options that do not really work these days. However, I beg to differ. Don’t people still get thirsty? Will they not keep a crafty bottle for use? That is precisely why bottles still make an outstanding choice.

I recommend that you look for quality bottles or thermoses that can be used for longer periods.

A special tip: Corporate events can be tiring. Give people bottles filled with water or other drinks.

What will work for you?

While I have tried to use most generic of giveaway items here, I’m sure that not all of these personalized promotional products will work for every business. In fact, it is almost impossible to come up with a universal approach. That is why you will have to think about the options and come up with the most suitable one based on following considerations.

  • How much do you want to spend on corporate event?
  • What will people in this event like?
  • Does the item hold appeal to people?
  • Can you personalize it?

Why hire promotion and advertising firms?

Often people ask if promotion firms can actually help with better branding. I believe they do. Unless you have a trained team to work on giveaway campaigns, it always helps to hire people who know this job.

  • Better understanding of your target market
  • Dedicated team for planning and execution
  • Low investments and higher returns
  • Personalized branding

Will these items work?

Some good ideas, I think the key to a great giveaway is something that is both relevant to your brand & audience.
