Google Certification - Google Test

Updated on January 4, 2012

Google Advertising Exam

OK, to say I have been too preoccupied to write hubs is an understatement, the Google test or Adwords exam to be more accurate has been one of many things that has kept me busy. Many of my older friends here on Hubpages will know that I undertake Web and SEO consultancy as my main source of income and I have also started to work on a UK SEO portfolio site.

Anyhow, I heard about the Google certification test center when I was apply for Google Engage, I wanted the free Adwords coupons they provide for you to give your clients. The application for asked if I was Google certified, it was then that I decided to take the Adwords Fundamentals Exam.

Google Advertising Professional

It was hard work but I passed the first exam with 87% and the required pass rate is 85%, you must complete the 113 questions in 2 hours. Depending on how much time you spend studying and how much experience you already have with Adwords, that is just over a minute allocated for each question.

I studied for about 5 days before taking the exam and I also paid £25 at ipassexam.com which has many similar questions to the real Google test. This is a good time to mention that each real exam costs $50 and you must pay each time you fail, but the benefits are worth it when you can state you are Google approved to an employer.

Don't Panic!
Don't Panic!

Google Professional

If you pass the Fundamentals exam you get a page which indicates you passed with you email address and name, but if you really want to be a Google Professional and have your own certicate and profile you need to pass one of the Advanced exams which I'm going to do next month when I have recovered and get paid again.

If you become a certified Adwords professional your details can be entered into Google's database allowing advertisers to search for and hire you to undertake their campaigns, you can also place a badge on your website which people can click to verify.

I am determined to press ahead and get this qualification, I print out the notes from the Google Learning Center and went through and highlighted topics I was rusty on. My advice for anybody taking the exams is to not panic when the interface loads and to not spend too long on each question.

      Richieb799,

That is a great piece of information. I find the free information available from Google to be expanding and it is exciting for small and medium sized businesses.

Please keep us posted on your progress. This is wonderful!

Hi American Choices, I have taken one Certification exam so far and passed the Fundamentals test first time..I spent about a week reading through the Learning center, it tells you what to revise for the Adwords Fundamentals exam.

You can take Analytics Exams as well. You have to pass 2 exams to get an official Adwords certified Partner badge but you do get a record of the exams you took on a special URL. I am going to take the Adwords Advanced Search exam next week so I can get my online certificate page.

As well as printing off notes I also bought a practice test at ipassexams.com so in all the whole thing cost me £50. I will be spending another £50 next week, but not bad to have that written on your C.V is it?!. :)

      richieb799,

Congrats on your technical skills, great hub and the Adwords Certification - wow!

I just found this out on Google and came back here to connect with a fellow Hubber who has gone through the certification.

May I ask how many exams you took? I read the 5 days studying and the one exam but aren't there allot of exams? How many hours did you devote within the 5 days? I am seeking to do it part-time.

Is one 2 hour exam sufficient for a badge?

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences. Most people don't realize what it is involved in certification. Congratulations to you! Not everyone passes the first time.
