Executive Summary

Executive Summary

Mercy Hospital is hosting this year’s Organ Donor Signup Gala at the Grand Salon Reception Hall in Miami, Florida. The Organ Donor Signup Gala will be a black tie event featuring a silent art auction, gourmet dinner, and guest speaker.

Mercy Hospital’s ten-year strategic plan calls for 10,000 organ donor sign ups; this year’s Organ Donor Signup Gala has been organized with the hope of gaining an addition 1,000 signups in order to have successfully signed up 10,000 people in seven years.

Goals

The goal behind Mercy Hospital’s 2016 Organ Donor Signup Gala is to raise money for the cause and to sign up 1,000 individuals as new organ donors. If 1,000 individuals sign up as organ donors then Mercy Hospital will have succeeded in signing up 10,000 new organ donors during a seven year period.

Progress

To achieve the goals of the Organ Donor Signup Gala Mercy Hospital has arranged a silent art auction, gourmet dinner, and guest speaker.

The Organ Donor Signup Gala has a beautiful collection of modern art for the silent auction from many local and international artists. Many of the pieces were donated to the auction by artists who wish to support organ donation through their passion. The gourmet dinner is being catered by a local company called Catering Angels. Catering Angels has decided to cater the event at 25% off of their price as their own contribution towards organ donation. The guest speaker is Maxie Harken, CEO of Catering Angels, who will be speaking at the event about how organ donation saved her life and about how important it is to become a donor.

The Organ Donor Signup Gala has currently sold 90% of the tickets available to the event. A pair of tickets were sold to Congressman Scott Howett and his wife Nina Howett, which has caused an increase in ticket sales.

Recommendations

In order to increase the number of organ donor signups and to avoid wasting the tickets that have not been bought, we recommend a raffle. All tickets that are not sold the day before the gala could be raffled off to Mercy Hospital Employees who are not currently organ donors. It is our hope that this would allow some of the hospital staff to enjoy the Organ Donor Signup Gala and to increase the number of potential organ donor sign ups. The raffle would be restricted to only employees who are not currently organ donors and who would be willing to become donors so as to not waste any of the tickets.

Feature Story

MERCY HOSPITAL HOSTS 7TH ANNUAL ORGAN DONOR SIGNUP GALA

CONGRESSMAN TO ATTEND ORGAN DONOR SIGNUP GALA

Mercy Hospital is hosting this year’s Organ Donor Signup Gala at the Grand Salon Reception Hall in Miami, Florida. The Organ Donor Signup Gala will be a black tie event featuring a silent art auction, gourmet dinner, and guest speaker.

The silent art auction will feature a wide variety of art from around the world which has been donated by famous artists and collectors who wish to support organ donation through their passion. All of the proceeds from the silent auction will go towards organ donation. When asked about his decision to donate his entire stock of sand castings to the event, Robb Linford had this to say:

“When I was 18 I needed a heart transplant. The heart I have inside my chest right now came from an anonymous organ donor. That person’s heart is the only reason I am alive and able to create sand castings, so when I heard that the Organ Donor Signup Gala was hosting a silent art auction I immediately decided to donate all my finished pieces in order to support organ donation. I hope that Mercy Hospital meets their goal of signing up 10,000 people as organ donors and that my art helps them to save lives.”

The gourmet dinner is being catered by a Catering Angels whose CEO, Maxie Harken, will be the guest speaker for the evening. Maxie Harken was a woman with a rare disease and no hope of a cure until she received an organ from an unknown donor which saved her life. She will be speaking about how important it is to become a donor.

When Maxie Harken was asked why she decided to become both the caterer and guest speaker for the Organ Donor Signup Gala she answered: “I was asked to be a guest speaker first by Mercy Hospital and then I offered to have Catering Angels cater the event. I was actually at Mercy Hospital a few months ago for a broken wrist and one of the doctors was reading my chart and the next thing I know I am being asked to speak at the gala. I was both surprised and excited at being asked as I have always been very passionate about organ donation ever since it saved my life. I surprised them by offering to have my company, Catering Angels, cater the event. I am so excited to see everyone at the gala and I hope that everyone who attends signs up to become a donor and save a life!”

The Organ Donor Signup Gala will be attended by a wide variety of people ranging from doctors, celebrities, artists, and a congressman. Everyone is invited, but please get your tickets now as we do have a limited availability. Please come and help save a life!

Annual Report

Letter from Mercy Hospital’s President

The Year 2016

Mercy Hospital has spent the last seven years supporting the organ donation cause and each year we have hosted Organ Donor Signup Gala to raise money for the cause and to sign up individuals as new organ donors. The 2016 Organ Donor Signup Gala is fast approaching and we have successfully signed up 9,000 new organ donors. It is our greatest hope that an additional 1,000 individuals will sign up as organ donors in order to have signed up a grand total of 10,000 new organ donors during a seven year period.

It is because of the generous nature of the members of the community as well as the attendees of our Organ Donor Signup Gala that we have managed to sign up so many new donors. However we also owe our thanks to the numerous people who pitch in each year to help make our Organ Donor Signup Galas happen. The money that has been raised and will continue to be raised by our volunteers and employees goes directly to the organ donor effort; the money has been used to save countless lives from disease, accidents, injuries, and to further lifesaving research into organ transplant treatments.

All of our achievements have been made possible thanks to the employees of Mercy Hospital, the members of the community, volunteers, gala attendees, organ donors, and our generous donors. None of this would have been possible without them and with their help we will continue to work to save lives!

Accomplishments for the 2016

Mercy Hospital has spent 2016 working towards the goal of signing up an additional 1,000 individuals, raising funds for organ donation, and increasing the number of blood donors. It is projected that the 1,000 individuals will be successfully signed up at the Organ Donor Signup Gala based on the survey sent to all those planning on attending the gala. Mercy Hospital has currently raised a sum of $25,000 in donations for organ donation and transplants. In addition, due to a revitalized rewards program which offers movie tickets to blood donors, blood donation has double since last year and many individuals have become repeat donors at Mercy Hospital.
