How to Create a SEO-Friendly Title, URL, Summary, and Body Copy, in Brief

• Create a brief and accurate title.

• Create a simple and easy-to-read URL.

• Write an informative and interesting summary.

• Write a unique and quality body copy.

• Add images and videos to your text.

• Add suitable internal and external links.

• Add social media to your page.

1. Create a Brief and Accurate Title

According to webmaster, a brief title of around 60 characters is the most suitable. The title should also describe the content accurately. You should therefore make it relate well with the content. Since the title words appear in search results, it is recommended to put your keywords in the title.

2. Create a Simple and Easy-To-Read URL

SEO experts recommend that you create a URL that is relevant to your content. The URL should at least have words that show what the page is all about. You need also to make it simple and easy-to-read to enable internet users understand and remember it with much ease.

Like titles, URLs appear in search results. You should therefore include your keywords in the URL to make it more search-engine friendly.

3. Write an Informative and Interesting Summary

In simple terms, a summary is a brief description of the main content on a page. If it is well-written, it can attract the internet user to read the entire content. You should therefore make your summary more informative and interesting.

A summary is also displayed in the search results, so it is recommended to add keywords in your summary to make your content more visible. But you should not stuff it with keywords to avoid your content being categorized by search programs as spam and consequently getting penalized.

4. Write a Unique and Quality Body Text

When writing your main text, you should know that people are moving online to get unique information that can solve their problems. You should therefore make your content fresh and high quality by covering your topic fully.

People also love to read a well-written and easy-to-read content. You should therefore avoid spelling and grammar mistakes as much as possible. You need also to use short paragraphs and bulleted or numbered lists to improve the readability of your text.

In your body text, you need also to use keywords and keyphrases. It is recommended to include them in the opening, middle, and closing paragraphs. As mentioned above, you should not stuff them to avoid being penalized.

Other things to include in your text include body headings and tags. According to search engine optimization experts, it is recommend to have a number of headings, i.e., H1, H2, and H3, in your content. The headings improve readability and also ranking, especially if they include the keywords. As for the tags, you need to use keywords and other words that feature in the title. Most content management systems allow you to include your tags when creating a page or post.

When it comes to word count, I recommend that you write at least 500 words. I have seen pages with more than this word count ranking better.

5. Add Images and Videos to Your Text

Images and videos make a page more media-rich which is one of the things that search engines look for when crawling on the web. When adding images and videos, you should ensure that they are well spread throughout the text.

Some important features to add alongside the images include ALT text, captions, image title, and descriptions. These features make the crawlers understand the images better.

6. Add Suitable Internal and External Links

In case you didn’t know, internal links point to other pages on the same website while external links point to pages on other websites. The information you are linking to should be relevant to the information on your page.

When adding the links, it is recommended to make the clickable text (anchor text) descriptive and concise for search engines and readers to understand it. If you decide to include link ads or even banner ads, you should ensure that they don't interfere with the readability of your page.

7. Add Social Media to Your Page

Based on my own experience, social media is an important SEO technique. If you have social media accounts, you can include their links on your page.

It is recommended to have at least Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest links on your website. Google and other search engines favor content that is integrated with these social media channels. These channels also allow people to share your pages with much ease.
