Internet Article Marketing – How I Made $250 in 25 Days

Internet Article Marketing

Bum Marketing

So I have been away from hubpages for quite some time and have been out exploring the wild world of affiliate marketing and getting mixed up with all that competition, seo and keyword madness.

I had tried affiliate marketing in the past and had zero success so I thought it was about time I gave it another shot and it actually turned out a lot better than the last attempt and I managed to make over $250 US in 25 days (was about 250 after 1 refund and few fee’s).

The style of affiliate marketer I chose to be was an internet article marketing and is commonly referred to as bum marketing and simply means I churn out lots of fresh, unique keyword focused articles trying to persuade readers to visit my affiliate products hoplinks and purchase the e-book or DVD so I can enjoy a percentage of the sale.

The best thing about internet article marketing is that it requires zero capital and you can setup landing pages on free wordpress, squidoo or google blogger pages. That being said I stayed away from building landing pages and hoped that my articles would be enough to wet my visitor’s appetites and send them to my affiliate’s sales page.

Choosing product to Promote – Most Important

The affiliate products I promoted was from clickbank.com

This is the most important part of affiliate marketing and that is to find a product that you believe has the ability to sell, and this means inspecting the sales page and reading reviews for the product. (look for products in a popular niche, weight loss, make money etc)

Click bank has many stats for each affiliate product, for example Gravity which is an indication of how well the product is selling either by the author of the product or affiliates selling it (higher the better). Just because a product has a high gravity doesn’t mean you should jump on it as the market for the product could be saturated and trying to get past the competition could take you some time.

A low gravity is not necessarily bad and could simply mean it’s a new product and in this case if you have checked out the sales page and product and everything looks good it may turn out to be very profitable. Once you have chosen the product you wish to promote simply create a unique hoplink for your clickbank username.

Website setup and costs

I purchased 1 domain name at around $10 US and set it up for permanent redirection to my affiliates hoplink address. Redirection is usually a free service with most hosts so you won’t need to pay a cent for hosting.

Internet Article marketing directories

The next step was to start writing articles and first thing you have to decide is what article directory you will use. I chose Ezine Articles purely because of the high page rank and amount of daily traffic it receives.

It’s a lot like hubpages in that it gets plenty of traffic and search engine attention and it can really help a beginner affiliate marketer make their first few sales. The only downside with ezine articles is that they check each article thoroughly and if they are not satisfied with the quality they will reject it. Keep in mind ezine articles rules on

  • Keyword Stuffing in Article Title and Body
  • Spelling and Grammar
  • Duplicate Content
  • No more than 2 links, Promotional links in author resource box

They also have rules concerning affiliate marketers and only allow links to top level domains for example www.fun.com and not www.fun.com/realfun. So I have a link on my article that says something like Find out more Here which links to my top level domain à www.healthydiet.com which has a permanent redirect to a hoplink url http://43968666hjctbz4ru5ef0p3w0e.hop.clickbank.net

The main reason ezine articles is so popular is that when your article is published at ezines its listed in the recently published articles section of the site which is a hotspot for instant traffic which means once you get your article out there its quite common to get 50 to 200 views quite quickly. The key for me was turning these views into sales instead of relying on visitors finding me through backlinks or long tail keyword phrases.

Of course keywords are very important and you should focus on 1 or 2 main keywords in your article but keep in mind ezine articles do not allow key density over 2%. The main consideration comes to choosing eye catching titles to get the most views the minute your article is published.

Long Term Affiliate - Building Backlinks

Now if you want to make money in the long run you can’t ignore building plenty of quality backlinks either from other articles, blogs, forums or websites. But if you want to make some money quickly the easiest way is to produce high quality unique articles and lots of them.

Internet Article marketing is not for the lazy and no one really makes money without spending quite a lot of time writing articles and submitting them to different directories.

The deceptive part of internet article marketing is to write an article that stirs emotions and removes logic from the readers mind, your aim is to get them reading and enjoying what they read, to trust you and your recommendations.

Thanks for reading, you have reached the end and I’m not even trying to sell you my affiliate products: P good luck affiliate marketers and I am happy to answer any questions you may have as I probably missed out a few things.
