Jobs that make me Green with Envy

Updated on May 27, 2014

There are certain Jobs that I envy (in a positive way - no bad energy) and wouldn’t mind doing. I look at the people doing them, with admiration and think “Wow, you lucky lady” or “you lucky guy” as I wouldn’t mind being in their shoes. Some of the jobs are as follows:

1) Showing off Holiday Attractions/Exotic Beaches

This is where people get to travel to a lot of exotic locations and they give you feedback about it while strolling along the beach or sipping a cocktail. I smile at them while watching TV saying “now that is one difficult job”.

2) A Part  Time Hairdresser to Celebs – Cornrows

I am good at doing cornrows. As a little girl, I had so many dolls, the lady looking after me while mum and dad were out, used to show me how to do hair using the dolls. So, I could do hair for all my favourite Celebs.

Alicia Keys

3) Assistant or Co Pilot

You will notice that I didn’t write Pilot. As far as I know the Assistant Pilot or Co-pilot sits with the Pilot in the cockpit but doesn’t do as much as the Pilot. (sorry, any pilot reading) correct me if I’m wrong. So, I’ll get to travel to so many destinations, without any stress and there is the lovely uniform too. I bet you the day I am given this opportunity, that Volcano in Iceland will do it's nut again (go crazy) and the flight will be cancelled.

4) A "Voice Over" or Narrator of a Program

This is another lovely Job, I wouldn’t mind doing. Narrating a program or documentary.

5) Kids – TV Presenter

I love working with Kids, in fact the big Kid in me comes out. So, I wouldn’t mind something that I could do with them, that will get them learning and laughing.

Old photo - burning some calories with friends kids in a Park - 2005

6) Excursion Lady

A similar Job to the first one. If you visit the London Eye when you come to London it’s always nice to take a River Cruise immediately you come off. ( London eye is next to the River Thames) My friend and I went in 2008 and I remember the lady on the Cruise explained a lot of things to us. Sometimes she asked us us to look towards the left or right and then went on to explain the History of some buildings and bridges as the boat passed by them. Not a bad Job, especially in the Summer.

The London Eye

In summary, I actually enjoy my Job in Teaching Adults. I make the lessons enjoyable and years after people have left me - some still stay in contact. However, I'm sure you understand there are some Jobs you look at and say to yourself. "Wow!".

There are some Jobs that make you feel you are getting paid to enjoy yourself and you look forward to every day, but some Jobs you definitely want to roll back under the covers when your alarm wakes you up in the morning, because you might not be looking forward to going to work. Example below.

Are there any Jobs that you wouldn't mind a shot at?

      Hello Ken

Thanks for that. Very interesting to know they share the responsibility and both are fully qualified. I have a clearer picture now. (I thought he just kept him Company and replied to any messages to the Cockpit).

      Thanks again.

The first officer is known colloquially as the copilot. But a copilot is not an apprentice: he or she shares flying duties with the captain more or less equally. The captain is officially in charge, and earns a larger paycheck to accompany that responsibility, but both are capable of flying the plane. Copilots perform just as many takeoffs and landings as captains do — and both are part of the decision-making process.

Tthere are always at least two pilots in a jetliner cockpit — a captain and first officer — and both of these individuals are fully qualified to operate the aircraft.

Hi Lady_E! The bread and butter here in las Vegas is the casino industry. If there are no tourists visiting us then there is no money and the casinos start laying people off their jobs. There are many people who got laid off and lost their homes here in Vegas. The casinos never lose, but their employees are the ones that suffer.

      Hi Akarime

So True - now we should be lucky to have a job, but I thought Las Vegas was a place rolling in the money. Interesting to know. Thanks for stopping. :-)

Great hub Lady_E! Some people are lucky to have those cool jobs but now a days I think that any one with a job is lucky! The economy is so bad especially where I live (las Vegas), people here are lucky to have any full time job.

Okay, I'll speak to her before this year runs out. LOL

Okay, I'll go to a music school soon as I graduate. I already have a composed song. I'll feature you, don't worry ;-). I want to change the music scene, like, release motivational tracks that touches the heart and move people to take action on their dreams.

Hmm! Talking of talented, Lady Elena is hiding hers. :-p

      Hi Chukwuka

Please o - speak to Alicia for me. In response to your question, I'm sure voice problems can help.

Errh... I hope you will allow me to do some rapping on the song you will release. lol. :)

Artist... Guitar... You are so talented.

Nice hub, Elena. Want to make Alicia's beautiful hair? I can hook you up sha. ;-)

I just want to be a freelancer - writing, speaking, PC, tech, design.

I'd also like to be a musician that sings with a guitar. It really moves me and touches my heart. Unfortunately, I have a not-so-good voice which equates to bad. Can a voice lesson solve this?

I'd like to be an artist too. I've been drawing as a kid and I want to go pro.

Actually, I'd like creativity to be the cream of the crop in any job I do..

      That's lovely Audrey;

It makes such a difference when we do our jobs with Passion. Infact, it no longer seems like a Job because we put out heart into it and enjoy it so much.

The Beauty of it is when the people you have taught still keep in touch with you. It must melt your heart to see the transformation they have made.

      Thanks for sharing your Experience.

I am doing what I love and have a deep passion for. Teaching others to sing and preparing them for American Idol or a great singing career. I also love teaching and playing the piano. My voice has brought me a nice income through the years. Some of my actors appear in movies and television and have lead roles in Broadway Musicals. I am so very blessed. Thank you for asking this question. Now I know how fortunate I have been! :) vocalcoach

** Hi Mystique - OK. I'll start focusing my energy on the first Job. So soon, I'll be hubbing from Hawaii, Miami and other exotic places. Thanks. Nice to read from you. :)

** Hello Fishtiger - that would be so cool. You reminded me of those who teach people how to swim with Dolphins. I hope what happened in America (oil in the sea) will not affect your hobby. Regards.

** Hi Mwatkins, it takes a lot of patience to be a waitress. There are people who order burgers and want it without the burger, onions no ketchup, white pepper on one side and black the other. (Big sigh!). I like the Wedding planner - not sure you'd like the others though. Best Wishes.

    • mwatkins profile image

You have some great choices here, Lady_E! I wouldn't mind any of them either! The one job I had for 6 hours and wouldn't (didn't ever) do again was a waitress (I got fired after 6 hours-thank God!). One I would enjoy most would be working with kids on the golf course! Or Running a wedding planning operation. In tough times we get to be even more creative. A very smart friend of mine told me to find things to do that other people hate and get paid for them - pick up after doggies in back yards, paint house numbers on curbs, detail cars, give transportation to shut-ins . . . .

What a sweet hub! You know you could be doing any of the ones you dream of? It starts with that burning desire in your heart, poking your inner child, believing as she does, and focusing your energy on it. Remember: what you settle for is what you get. Never be afraid to dream because there is where reality begins, no paradox intended.

      Thumbs up!

Great jobs, Hi Lady E, before I used to work in the university and one of the perks of the job is to go to different places all over the world to present research papers and attend seminars all expenses free. I was blessed to travel from Aus to Africa, I missed that but now I am a full time mom and that's the most wonderful job, the smile of the child is the perk and when they say I love you Mamaw, that is so great for me.

And that's why my Lady E I dropped by here to say Happy Mothers Day to you, if not to your mom, HUGS! I always like your positive views in the forums, Maita

Hi SupportMed - A movie Trailer maker seems very interesting. I'm just thinking of it - You'd have to put so many shots in sequence. I hope you get a shot at it. Ref: your #1 there is something called NaNoWriMo - its National Novel Writing Month and happens in November. If you are interested, you could start writing your novel now. It will give you a head-start. (Has to be 50,000 words)

Google NaNoWrimo for more info. Regards.

Lady_E: I certainly wouldn't want to be the lady above holding the bag, LOL!But it is a job!!. Wonder how much she gets paid!!? I wouldn't mind showing off holiday attractions and exotic beaches, for a season anyway. Don't think I would want it to be for long. What I really would like to do, even though I hear it is a lot of work involved, is be a movie-trailer maker. Looks and sounds exciting! However, my #1 is as 'successful' author/writer. I have an acquaintance who is a tour guide and that always seemed like an enjoyable job. I don't think it is necessarily a real job, but I wouldn't mind giving art lessons on a cruise ship. (I would probably land this dream job and get attacked by pirates the first day...)

Perhaps a job naming colors? Surely we don't have them all named, do we? Okay, I know that one is probably a long shot.

When I was a kid I used to tell everyone I wanted to be a US Senator. I think I'm glad that one didn't work out.
