Jute is a natural fibre and India has been for long recognised for its production. It ranks first in the world in terms of jute Industry. The jute industry at the moment is facing a tough time.

There are many factors that have contributed to the problem of the jute industry.

The major problems that are faced constantly are:

• Short supply of raw materials
• The age old machineries is unable to work efficiently
• There is a strong competition with other substitutes like plastic bag as it is not that cheap as plastic
• Production of jute in Bangladesh has increased rapidly and thus the market of jute for India is hampered.

The other things that are produced by the brand include chemicals, sea food processing, It and also healthcare. It has been reported that 20% of the total stake of the jute industry in India is owned by the Sarda group alone. Ghanshyam Sarda is an eminent industrialist of the city of Kolkata and the owner of this 2,500 crore Group. He is extremely keen to participate in social works. This has made him invest in monorail project that is about to come up in Rajarhat.

Ghanshyam Sarda has strong leadership capabilities and with that he has always supported different causes of the society and has worked for the improvement of the stale condition of jute industry. He is a high profile business leader of the state. The present condition of the jute industry has worried him extremely. So, different measures have been taken up by this noble man to improve the condition of the jute industry.

The industry has not gained any sort of profit at all in the recent years. The jute industry has faced great loss in the recent years. Not many investments have come up lately in the jute sector. The state government as well as the central has also not taken enough initiative that could have improved the situation. Nationalisation of the companies can effectively solve the problem and also will be able to provide employment to many.

Jute sector of India hasn’t received many orders. So, many business leaders are planning to come out of this particular industry. This is a time when business leaders from all over the state need to come up so that the overall condition of the particular industry will be improved. Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata Group has played a pivotal role in different activities to improve the condition of the jute industry. They have planned to speak with the government about this particular problem.
