Updated on January 10, 2012

How Much Money Do You Need to Make?

How much extra money do you want to make each month, $500, $1,000, $2,000, maybe more? No matter how much extra money you need you will be able to make it with this simple method. When I started I regularly made between $500 - $1,000 dollars a month working for just one company. The possibilities are endless.

Now you can discover how you can make money that will help you pay the bills, the mortgage, feed the family and get you out of debt.

The easy method referred to is writing articles. You can make money, earn a second income or replace a full time income through writing articles.

In this article I am going to show you how to earn hundreds even thousands of dollars, just like many of the online writers who work as ghost writers, freelance writers, and self published authors.

Follow These Guidelines &

Start to Make Money Writing Articles From Day 1

1: Join Article Directories such as Ezine Articles, Hubpages, Suite 101, Squidoo, and eHow.

Joining Article Directories is your first step into making money writing articles. Choosing the top article directories is essential as you will make more money through writing for directories that have a shared revenue plan, such as Suite 101, or directories such as Hubpages, and Squidoo, that advertise Google Adsense, Amazon, eBay and other marketing programs on your article website, and eHow, where you can promote clickable hyperlinks to your websites.

You should also consider promoting your articles on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.

The key factor is traffic; the more traffic you drive to your articles, the more money you will make.

2: Choose a subject. The next step into making money writing articles is to choose a subject to write about. You can choose subjects from hobbies in which you participate, such as gardening, or your profession i.e. if you're a nurse you could write articles offering information on becoming a nurse, or anything you have experience of.

Next, get a pen and piece of paper and make a list of all the topics that interest you. Go to Google Insights (a search engine) and check on what topics are trending and decide whether or not you can write an article on any of them.

Whatever subject you choose, carry out a little research so that you will have enough information to write an article of between 400 to 600 words. In the main you should aim for an article word count of 500 as most readers tend to lose interest in reading articles of a longer length.

3: Research keywords and phrases. When you have found a topic or a subject that is trending you must research keywords and phrases. Keywords are what people type in the search engines to search for information. Therefore it is important that you incorporate your chosen keywords and phrases at least once in the title, introduction, and in the final paragraph of your article. Use the free keyword tool at Google AdWords to generate a list of the most important keywords for your topic. NOTE: The key is to find keywords and phrases that generate enough traffic, but which has medium to low competition.

4: You don’t have to be Shakespeare to be a writer. You do not have to be a literary genius to write articles, but you do have to have a good command of written English. You should write informative articles placing keywords and phrases within the narrative, and link to other articles under the same subject; this will help draw readers to your articles.

Although it is advised to include keywords and keyword phrases in your article you should not over do it and overuse keywords; one the article directories and search engine do not like it and two it doesn't look professional.

Further, when using keywords and phrases you must ensure that the article reads clearly. Don't just insert a keyword for the sake of it, especially if it makes the sentence incomprehensible. e.g. "Lose weight in 2 weeks with the lose weight program that helps you to lose weight." The keyword lose weight has been used too many times within one sentence.

5: Write An Article. Now that you have joined the article directories, carried out research on, chosen keywords and a topic to write on, you can now get on with writing your article.

Write 1 to 2 articles a dayin the beginning, increasing to 5 to 10, 500 word articles per, day. I advise to simply get onto your keyboard and type out everything you know on the subject and when finished edit and spell check the article.

You will find that some article directories want exclusive rights to your articles, therefore you will have to re-edit your articles so that they are unique to a particular directory.

Writing articles so that you can earn an income can be demanding, time consuming and hard work, but the initial hard graft will pay off and later on you will be able to relax with writing just a couple of articles a week.

6: Ping and submit your article to the search engines. Some of the article directories automatically index your article on the search engines, but it is worth while manually letting the search engines know that you have written an article, a service the pinging serving can do . A good pinging service is ''.

If you follow these guidelines you will be able to make money. How much money you make is up to you. The more time and effort you put in the more money you will make from writing articles.

      Hi Chris

You are quite right having a list is crucial to any business, but for writing articles on line is it not as important, unless you are going to give away an ebook on how to write articles and make money!

Whatever method you decide upon - and there are many - you would be well advised to build an email list of people that you can offer products and services to on an ongoing basis.

      They become your customers.

To entice them to sign up to your list - offer a free gift such as an eBook.

You will over time earn more money from your email list than anything else.

      Hi BKCreative

You are quite right when you say "you have to get enough good articles out there." Because the more articles you have in circulation the more money you will potetntially make.

So keep up the good work and remain consistent every day!

      Good Luck

It does make a difference if you get enough good articles out there. This is what I am working on now. The good thing about hub pages is that I can always go back and update the content - even change the title and therefore keep it evergreen.

Thanks for the tips and rated up!
