How To Make Money Online

If you are reading this, you are probably interested in making money online. However I am not here to tell you how to become an owner of a new house before next Christmas by just clicking on a few links on a webpage. There is no such thing as easy money or becoming rich in one day, you have to work to earn it. There are many opportunities on the internet to make money and just like HubPages and Google Adsense, Amazon's Mechanical Turk (or MTurk) is a website where you can make money.

We all have different skills and abilities, in fact most of us have at least a few skills that we are proud of and we use our skills to earn a living. MTurk gives you that opportunity to make use of your skills in different areas. It offers tasks like proofreading, writing, searching the internet for information and translation, just to name a few. There are thousands of tasks available on MTurk and you can choose which task you want to do and how much time you want to spend doing it.

How To Use MTurk

Just go to MTurk website and sign in as a Mechanical Turk worker. You have to enter your name and email address, and you are ready to make some money online.

What are HITs?

The tasks are called HITs (Human Intelligent Tasks) which are posted by businesses called Mechanical Turk Requesters. There are over 100,000 HITs available on MTurk everyday. Go through the list of HITs to get an idea of the type of tasks available. You choose your own hours to work on the tasks and they are available 24 hours a day every day. All tasks are not difficult to complete but some HITs do require some qualification tests before you are allowed to accept the tasks. You can take a qualification test by answering a few questions provided by the requester. Most qualifications are approved instantly while others may take several days to notify you through email.

Get Results in Minutes

The time allocated for completing a task ranges from a few minutes to several days. You can view a HIT before accepting it. After completing the task, you will need to submit it and get it approved by the requester. The HIT that has been submitted will be reflected in your account summary with a Pending Approval status. The requester who posted the task will either approve or reject your completed task. Most HITs are approved within 24 to 48 hours and you will see your account balance credited with the amount for each task approved.

Reward Comes With Dedication

There is no limit to how many HITs you submit in a day. As long as you maintain a good rating for your MTurk account and find some HITs to work on, you will be able see your MTurk balance increase. For U.S. MTurk workers, earnings from your MTurk account can be transferred to your bank account or gift certificate balance. International workers can transfer their earnings to gift certificate balance which can be used for purchases from If you are dedicated enough with turking, you should be able to get yourself some nice books for Christmas from
