Making Money Online - Being an Educated Consumer: Warnings and Advice for Those Seeking an Online Income

Updated on January 5, 2012

One of the classic ways that people are lured into making money online scams are through the sales pages of many ‘make money online’ financial products. Yes, I have to admit that I was one of them that got conned. In fact, it took me a while to realize and observe a pattern among these sales pages before I realized that it was a very clever employment of psychology and marketing tactics that were used to deceive unsuspecting customers like me.

We have to be educated customers. In this hub, I share more about what I have discovered, so that you hopefully are spared the grief of succumbing to these online businesses - specifically those online marketing businesses that promise you money instantly.

One of the ways that marketers like to attract potential customers to their product is to write up a really touching story of someone. A story of rags to riches. A stay home mom. A college student. A homeless man. A senior citizen who never learnt how to use the computer. A school dropout..... All these stories touch our hearts and make us wish that we too would be able to enjoy this fairy tale story with a happily ever after ending.

In truth, people are actually hired to write these amazing stories for the sole purposes of attracting potential buyers. These stories may be true, a combination of several stories, or entirely fictional. But what these copywriters are skilled in is taking a normal story and adding such a flavor to it that makes us think that buying that product is the only way to make money. In fact, these stories are often too good to be true, although all the small little details are inside to trick us into thinking that it really happened.

Pictures and photographs of the luxurious lifestyle associated with that money making product are also thrown into the sales pages, peppering the amazing story with tantalizing visuals. This only serves to deceive us as readers into thinking that it is real visual evidence. Very often, these internet marketing gurus are the best in their fields, and their cars and homes and holidays are the results of many softwares working for them, not just this particular software that they are selling to you.

Better still, is the paypal snapshot. Wow those look just so impressive. If only we could have those amounts entering our on pockets too! However, creating a paypal snapshot is not that difficult after all. It is not uncommon for those in charge of marketing to create the snapshots from scratch for using other means that are not honest.

All these tactics create in us a kind of greed and longing for something that does not belong to us. It creates a false illusion that it is possible to have wealth in just a few clicks. In fact, this youtube video was really intriguing to me, as I learned that these software are genuinely designed to help people make money, although the way they are marketed causes them to lose their dimension of reality - as customers are promised the world.

If you are thinking of making money online, there are several ways to go about doing it - however, I recommend reading this. It is helpful not just for yourself, but also helpful should you need to give advice to someone thinking of making money online.
