Master Padlocks

Master Padlocks are well known for their “Tough Under Fire” motto all over the world. They are now a dominant brand of padlock mass produced in every shape and size. Master padlocks stand out from many other brands of padlocks due to their laminated lock body design. Master Padlocks was founded by Harry E. Soref in 1921 in his factory in Milwaukee.

Tough Under Fire

The laminated lock body which is reverted together at the top and bottom was not always considered to be a secure design for a padlock. It was thought that a solid body padlock made from solid bras or steel was the only padlock that could put up with serious abuse.

It was a challenge taken up by a marksman in 1973. That is when Master Locks adverts were first seen on TV of their padlocks surviving a shot from a high powered rifle. In the movies everyone has seen one shot from a gun and the padlock falls off the door. Well The marksman from Master Padlocks fired the shots into the Master Padlock and it was no closer to opening when he had finished then when he started. This is how Master padlocks got their motto “Tough Under Fire”. Since then Master Padlocks have been well known for their toughness and first choice for many who need a high security padlock.

Rekeyable Padlocks

Master Padlocks are available with a range of security ratings. This helps keep a padlock for less secure purposes within an affordable price range. Higher security padlocks as you would expect, cost a little bit more.

Master Padlocks are sold in keyed alike groups where you can have one key to work two or more padlocks. If you require a large number of padlocks your local locksmith will stock Master Padlocks with rekeyable barrels. Being able to rekey the master padlock barrel makes it possible to have as many padlocks as you require on the one key. They can also be master keyed if you require. Rekeyable barrels allows you to change the combination of the padlock if needed. This can be done at a fraction of the cost of buying new locks.

Master Anti Bump Padlocks

Most master padlocks are also available with a range of shackle sizes. Different size shackles allows you to customize the padlock to your requirements.

With the onset of Lock Bumping Master Locks introduced a new cylinder design which resists Bumping. The new design stops the force of a bump key being transferred through the pins and spring.

If you need a padlock for the smallest luggage locks to the largest high security padlocks, Master Locks are a good choice for security range and price.
