Shortlisting of Applicants - currently larger applicant pools are resulting in requests for specialised shortlisting services. Depending on the size of the applicant pool, mix of applicants and number of vacancies, we can suggest the most effective and efficient method to shortlist large fields of applicants. Our consultant's role is to assist the chair of the selection panel by streamlining this stage of the selection process. Our usual approach for a large field of applicants is to undertake an initial review which quickly identifies clearly unsuitable applicants. We then prepare a preliminary shortlist matrix providing comments and an order of merit for the stronger candidates. Shortlisting utilising other assessment tools such as brief structured telephone questioning, work or ability tests or screening questionnaires can also be negotiated as required.
