My Weather Studio Tour with Paul Douglas

Updated on April 13, 2013

Three months at my current position, I am already planning the Annual Volunteer Luncheon. In April, Ebenezer shows recognition to it's volunteers by having a special luncheon. As Director of Volunteers, I host this event. Ebenezers' mission is to help older adults and others have a secure, meaningful, safe and vibrant senior life.

One of the tasks I undertake as Director of Volunteers is to communicate with the guest speaker who has been set up already by my predecessor. Emailing each other back and forth we agree to meet at his weather station and I am given an enchanting tour. The senior meteorologist is Paul Douglas, a local weather celebrity in Minnesota. He is a valued vendor for Ebenezer, part of Fairview Health. He provides Ebenezer and other companies with high tech weather tracking alert systems. This is a safe and practical choice for us since we want to keep our seniors safe.

Paul Douglas, once a weather man in Minnesota now owns his own weather station called Media Logic. It is located in a suburb West of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. I find Paul Douglas to be a down to earth, kind and intelligent man knowing everything there is to know about weather.

This was an exciting day since we discussed what he would talk about at the event which would be his weather alert system and fun volunteer stories. I am so looking forward to my first volunteer event which will include about 300 senior resident volunteers and community volunteers.

I am really enjoying my new career at Ebenezer working with seniors. I feel I was led here and see myself reaching new professional goals. I am so happy in my life and feel grateful. I am so excited for my volunteers knowing that the guest speaker Paul Douglas will be a fantastic and upbeat guest speaker for my first ever volunteer event.
