Can You Really Make Money with Hubpages?

Updated on May 10, 2014
Source

Here is what I've earned in my first 18 days by writing on Hubpages:

My husband rushed over when he heard me screaming from the living room followed by my three children.

“What's wrong? Are you okay?” they all asked at unison with concerns.

“Look, my first earning at Hubpages!” I said excitedly, pointing at the screen.

My son burst out laughing right away. “Mom, you didn't bother to pick up a quarter last time you saw one. Now you only got 5 cents and you're like just won a million dollars.”

He was right. I did feel like I just won something huge.

It was not the number followed by the $ that made me scream in excitement. Right at the beginning when I joined Hubpages, I have learned a lot from other hubbers here about what to expect in terms of making money at Hubpages. So I didn't expect to see any earning the first year here. I focused on learning and took in useful advices from great hubbers here.

English is my second language. I started learning it when I was twenty. I'd never dared to dream about that one day I would publish my work in English. I was nervous when I first signed up with Hubpages and I didn't have the courage to publish my work until three days later. Shimmering Dawn, Irenevosburgh and Ardie were the very first three people to comment on my first hub – Decorate a wall. Their positive and encouraging comments gave me a boost in confidence. Ardie even taught me how to make a better hub. Then as I published more hubs, more people followed with their useful comments. I have learned so much in less than three weeks here.

When my Page Views reached 1000, it's an approval of acceptance of my writing skills in English.

When $0.05 showed up on my HubPages Earnings Program, it marked the beginning of my career as an author.

Thank you Hubpages for creating this wonderful website. Thank you hubbers for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate all of your supports and encouragements.

I have stopped writing since late 2012 because of my busy schedule. I am happy to say that I still receive paycheck for the hubs I published at Hubpages.

Keep trying, Geraldnduru. You'll get there. If some people can make a living by writing hubs here, we should be able to make some money here if we try our best. Actually, my earning in my Google Adsense account has increased too. So remember to set up your Google Adsense account. :)

Thank you im28beyond for stopping by. I am not really here for the sake of money only. My main reason to join Hubpages is to learn how to write. I find Hubpages is a great place for me to polish my write skill. And improving my writing skill is a very important first step that I have to take in order to have a career as an author. Have a great day! :)

Thank you Peter for stopping by and commenting. I've read your hubs and they are very informative and interesting. We like travel too. One day we might end up being at the exact same spot as one of your pictures showing on your hubs. :)

Thank you Bldg an Architect for coming by and joining in my celebration. Whether I can produce something great or not, I certainly will try my best. I graduated from UC Berkeley in two years after I'd transferred from a city college. I gave birth to my first child in my first year at UC Berkeley, and I was four months pregnant when I graduated from UC Berkeley. So, I do believe myself in making something happen if I try my best. :)

You are truly an inspiration to the rest of us. Learning English at twenty and writing so well is incredible. I hope that your five cents turns into five dollars and then fifty and on and on. Best of luck!

Thank you rjsadowski. You're absolutely right. I've done some researches on how much the majority writers earn here. So I don't expect to see a large number next to that $. My main goal here is to improve my writing skills. Have a wonderful day! :)

It is amazing that you learned English that late and yet look at you, you are doing so well, I am truly proud of you and as usual, I know you have a lot to give and I am right here with you! How far have you gone on the 30/30 challenge?

Thanks donnaisabella. I have been very busy lately and hardly had time to write much. However, I did three hubs yesterday when I finally got my break. I am still far behind the 30/30 challenge. I will keep trying though.
