Nike stole my idea!

Well, probably not from a legal standpoint
Over twenty years ago for my 6th grade science fair, I invented a shoe that hadn't even been conceived yet, but that's where it ended. I came up with an idea based on my theory that if the mattress I slept on had springs and was so comfortable, why not a shoe? I soon developed a prototype where I cut out the mid sole of a shoe, hollowed it out and placed 4 large springs where the rubber cushion had been. Sure it was kind of crude but it was an idea, an idea that wasn't put into action for over 10 years when Nike introduced its Shox series. My shoe wasn't as developed as the Nike was but had I patented the idea I probably wouldn't be writing a what if hub right now. My point is people have wonderful ideas everyday and they never follow up on what could be the next great thing. Even if its a modification that makes even a bit of an improvement, look into getting it patented. Here is a link where you can read more about what it takes to do so. www.uspto.gov/web/patents/howtopat.htm If you take anything away from this, it's you don't want to walk by a picture on your refrigerator everyday and wonder, what if?
