Not just another Charity.

Updated on December 31, 2010

It’s not charity it’s giving back to our community.

For those of us that are old enough to be called pop or old man, it’s been a long ride and sometimes we have been put up wet. I only know I was the center of attention a couple years ago at a fund raiser and I was touched to the heart. This is what we are all about in life and in country is helping our fellow neighbor or co worker.

There comes a time in every one’s life where you find yourself stranded on the same highway that you have traveled forever and have no idea what to do next. I know that churches do all that they can to help people but not all of us belong to a church usually due to relationships, work or a multitude of reason’s we find for ourselves. This doesn’t make us bad people at all because almost everyone I have talked to that doesn’t attend a church on Sunday’s is usually working or hasn’t received that calling yet. This is a personal choice for us as Americans and I feel very strong about my religious standing in the God that I believe.

With this said and religion dealt with now we can get to work helping others during some of the most stressful times in one’s life. I don’t care who you are we must all start seeking guidance in these matters with helping others. Our small town has so many great people living here and would like to feel like they are a part of the community.

This is no secret what we are doing here, we just have a fellow brother that will need our help after all of the good will wishes have dawned to a slow speed and the bills start coming in. I just wish there was some way we could manage to help every sole that needs our help throughout the years to come. We all are going to face some kind of problem as a family or just a friend in need so let’s all think about what I’m trying to say and after the yew year is here let’s make a grand year my starting this one good deed for our friend, who knows next it could be your turn.

My sister-in-law Amy was the backbone behind my fundraiser and is on line with this already. She has her hands full with a fund raiser with one of our dear friends that is dying of ALS. As you all know there is no hope, or cure in recovering from this selfish act that robs a person of their body, muscle little at a time but much faster that Muscular Dystrophy or the other muscle diseases.

I want to touch on one thing and I will never say it again, we have some wonderful Deputies in this county, some are new some are old farts like me and the rest are very experienced and professional in their field of work. After the recent killing of Georgia State Trooper LeCroy in the Atlanta area, we have always known how venerable we are all the time here and are home. Let’s take care of the fine man and woman we have here at home in Dawson County.

We are planning a fundraiser soon for Deputy Chase Johns and we have several people already signed up to help, I hope to have more information after the first week or so in January, 2011.

You can mail donations to UCB 109 Hwy 53 W Dawsonville, Ga. 30534 or call 706-265-3232. You can also go by any UCB and ask to donate to the Chase Johns Ga. account, Dawsonville,Georgia 30534

To all our friends in Dawson County we bid you a safe New Year
