Office Depot Application

Updated on June 27, 2011

Working at Office Depot has more benefits than simply being employed with one of the most successful businesses in the United States. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision and life insurance plans, stock options, store discounts, flexible scheduling and a great deal more. Not only do they provide numerous short-term benefits, the long-term opportunities available within the corporation are manifold. There are employment opportunities within Office Depot’s corporate, store, supply chain, business solution and international divisions. This means that once you’ve joined the Office Depot family, upward mobility is truly possible.

Once you’ve decided that Office Depot has everything that you are looking for in an employer, you can apply online in less than thirty minutes. The first step to applying is simply navigating to the Office Depot Career Opportunities website (www.officedepot.jobs). After you arrive there, you can immediately apply by clicking on the red arrow in the bottom, right-hand corner of the screen that says, ‘Apply Now.’ A pop-up will appear which will allow you to search all of Office Depot’s open positions. You can search using keywords and then sort the list by the time it was posted. Once you browsed through the possibilities and found a job that appears to suit you, you can find out more about it by clicking on the title. You’ll find a listing of the job’s requirements, responsibilities and compensation on the ‘Job Description’ page.

After you’ve found a position that really seems to fit your skills and experiences, you can click on ‘Apply Now’ and move on to the next phase of the application process. You’ll be asked to log-in but since you’ve probably never registered, you’ll need to hit the ‘Register Now’ link at the bottom of the page. Once you’ve created a unique username and password, you’ll be given the opportunity to upload and submit your resume which you will definitely want to do. Having a well-crafted resume and cover letter is imperative if you want to stand out from the crowd. Now that you’ve finished that, you’ll move on to giving your basic personal information such as your name, address, phone number, etc.

After you’ve completed this basic information, you’ll move on to filling out information regarding your past work experiences, education accomplishments, references and other job-related information. When you’ve completed this information, you’ll be ready to submit your application for review. Now that you’ve finished your first application, you can go back and search for any other jobs that might match your skill set and apply to those as well. The more jobs you apply for, the better your chances are of landing one.

If you have a hard time with computers or you’re just old-fashioned, you can also go to your local Office Depot store and apply in person. Either way, when you’ve completed applications for all of the jobs that interest you, take a well-deserved break and wait for the phone to ring. In the meantime, do everything you can to prepare for the all-important interview. If all goes well, you’ll be out of the unemployment line and into the second largest office supply retailer in the country.

According to their official website, Office Depot “provides more office products and services to more customers in more countries than any other company.” When you consider the fact that Office Depot does $14 billion annually in sales and employs over 40,000 people, it’s not hard to see why they’re the second largest office supply merchant in the United States. This is a company that is not in danger of going away any time soon which makes it one of the perfect companies with which to seek employment.
