Employment: Career Stepping Stones

Updated on April 11, 2013

On The Journey

What is it that we have to do to get there. You know, the "there" we're all trying to get to. Do we sometimes have to take steps that are seemingly backward, to get ahead? I think we do. What does this mean though? It means maintaining the position you're in right now, until all of the pieces of your plan come together. Can you do that? Can I?

I have to answer "yes," because you can't stop in the middle of something and say you've given it a try. Not really. No. Each day I have to meet goals in order to actually live the process of what I'm doing. I take action. I do what I think will propel me forward.

Each endeavor that I'm involved in at this point in my work life, is something that takes time and effort to earn big money. I'm at the point where I feel I want to earn something to cover the costs of following my dreams. Classes, seminars, equipment, and portfolios are cash demanding investments. What this really is, is the old "starving writer," "artist," or "actor." I'm all three. I'm not a painter or a sculptor, I'm a voice over artist. And no, I'm not really starving either. But, I do have a lot of hard work ahead of me to continue to succeed. I just have to keep writing everyday, recording in my studio and playing any role that interests me.
