Paypal interview questions for risk analyst role. Preparing for risk analyst role.

Updated on October 31, 2014

Applying to paypal and initial interview

Paypal jobs are advertised in ebay/paypal website. I have also seen paypal job ads in Linkedin. You can expect a reply in 2-3 weeks if you are an interesting candidate for the job you applied. At first the HR will call you. During the short chat, the HR will look if your skills match the job requirements.

TIP: No one will talk for you. You have to talk for yourself. Hence, during the talk with HR, you have to highlight how your background fits to the job requirement. HR manager will not ask this question directly, but you have to take every opportunity to highlight your experience/education fit to the job skill requirements.

Second round

The second round is with the hiring manager. This is again to check the match between your background with the job requirement. This type it will be a in depth. You have to talk more about your experience.

TIP: TALK, TALK AND TALK. Use every opportunity to convince the interviewer that you can do the job.

SQL is very important for risk analyst role.

On-site interview

This is the hard part. They will pay for your travel to the head office. They will pay for your hotel, flight and transportation.

Step1: analytical test

Step2: series of 4-5 rounds of interviews. You can be dropped out at any stage. For instance, if you don't perform well ( I don't know what 'well' means), you will be dropped from further steps.

After all these interviews, you can go home.

They will inform you the results in 2-3 days.

Analytical test question types Paypal

The analytical test contained 25 questions on a piece of paper. You have 30 minutes to answer. They provide you a calculator.

This is a sample analytical test for the credit risk analytical interview

There are no negative marking. This means, you can guess. If you don't know the answer, mark 'B' (most probable choice) :-)

Business case interview question in Paypal

This is the market estimation question. e.g how many cats are there in ireland or how many tee drinkers are in california.

This link will help you prepare for the interview on market sizing

SQL interview questions paypal

SQL interview questions were basic, but not theory but applied. They will give you a table and ask you how will you do that. Eg. You have employee table and you need to get all employees having salary more than 5000 Euro.

I learned it using this site

Personality interview

Personality interview was to understand your personality. Some of the personalities required for an analyst are given below and questions were focused on accessing if you have the personalities that fits the job.

1. Able to work in ambiguity

2. Able to solve complex problems

3. Able to talk to different people and get their help

4. Able to innovate. This also means someone who don't re-invent the wheel, but gain insights from other fields and areas

5. Able to prioritize work

6. Able to accept failure and responsibility

7. Able to lead others

Think about instances where you demonstrated each one of these characteristics

Practise a lot of graph based questions
