A Quiet Tape Gun For Packing And Shipping
Scotch H150 Tape Gun Review
I recently moved into a condo, and so obviously noise can be an issue. Out of respect to my neighbors, and not wanting to get kicked out for the shrieking sounds of my tape dispenser, I started looking for a quiet one. My old one was very loud and obnoxious, and I am fairly certain that it could be heard through the walls of my condo. This new one that I just got is nearly silent, it's loud, violent sound has been reduced to a near silent sound.
I looked all over for and there was very minimal information about this product anywhere. I found it on Ebay and although it was fairly expensive for a tape gun, it is actually made in Italy, not china. I was a bit surprised since most tape guns are made in china. The parts on it are very well made and very solid. Most importantly though, it works great!
How To Load A Tape Gun
How Does It Work?
The way it works, as far as I can gather, is by extending the total area of which the tape sits, after being taken off of the roll. This in effect extends the action of pulling tape off of the roll, which in turn spreads out the noise being made by taking tape from the roll. It has an extra piece that helps to increase the distance the tape travels from the roll. Another excellent feature is that once you cut off a piece of tape, it stays right near the cutting blade because it is tightly held in place. This means that it can't fall back and get stuck on the roll again. I have always struggled with this issue with other tape guns, because then you have to find the edge and free it from the roll again.
Other Things To Consider
This tape gun is fairly expensive for a tape gun. This one time investment saves you a lot of time and hassle. There is a quote that is applicable to this however. "The man who buys rich cries once but laughs many times. The man who buys poor laughs once and cries many times." If you sell things on Amazon or Ebay, or even just use a tape dispenser relatively frequently, this tape gun is a must have.
