Resumé Writing by Stef
Job or Career?
If you're me, a job and a career are just about the same thing. I don't want to do the same thing forever, so a job sometimes sounds more appealing. I think of a career as more long-term, but as they say, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. I think work is good for the soul. It keeps us on top of our lives instead of buried beneath them. It's good to do your dishes and clean up the house because afterward you just feel good. You do those things not necessarily because you want to, but because you have to. You don't get paid to clean your own house, but you still work at it. Ultimately, we do things because of how they make us feel. So, how do you want to feel? Want a new job, promotion, change of pace or something else?
New Job = New Life
Sometimes we get stuck. Our lives become repetitive and we feel like we're in a rut. We want to do something important and meaningful. We're people, not robots, so naturally we want to do something that engages us in life mentally and physically. Updating your resumé can help and mean all the difference between landing that sweet corner office, or sweeping up the parking lot looking up at it. If you want to sweep the parking lot, I can help with your resumé for that as well.
Have you ever written a cover letter? Yeah, me too. I hate it. Sometimes jobs I apply to require a cover letter and they make me write one. Sure, I'm advertising myself as a writer, which I am, and I can also make you up a cover letter. For some reason, it's easier for me to sell YOU than it is to sell myself. I don't want to lie, but rather accentuate your abilities and talents. Think of me as the push-up bra for your life.
How soon are you looking for your next job/career?
I like to have a sense of humor involved when I do anything. It makes life more enjoyable and we could all use some enjoyment. Here are my facts about jobs, for your enjoyment.
Fact #1: Writing a Resumé takes a lot of time, so you should probably have me do it.
Fact #2: If you visit my website, a Unicorn will grant you 3 wishes in your sleep tonight.
Fact #3: Jobs are great, if you can find one.
Fact #4: I gave up the "real job" thing, and made my own business. (I know, that wasn't funny)
Fact #5: I'm taking a writing class to "keep up".
How to Contact me for Business
You could always write to me in the comments section below, but if you're wanting to be one of my clients that needs assistance with anything involving resumes, cover letters, help with your website content, proofreading, editing, or anything else you can possibly think of, email me. My email address is MissSketch@gmail.com -- don't ask, it's an old email address. Ok, I'll tell you. I paint/sketch, so that mystery is solved.
I have helped many people with resumes, cover letters, applying for jobs, posting ads, adding website content, editing, writing, etc. You name it, I've probably done it. I haven't bungee jumped, so I guess I haven't done everything you can name. Here's one of my reviews:
"I maintain a couple of blogs doing reviews and photography etc etc. Stef has helped me out numerous times with my writing. I'll have her "proof read" my work, not for spelling errors or syntax, but just for general readability. She always provides excellent suggestions on how to make my articles more coherent with wording, sentence restructuring, etc etc. I've never had to wait more than 24 hours for her help, and she's helped me every time I've asked.
A couple of years ago I took a long distance walking trip. Stef helped with mapping out some of my routes, as well as doing research on a couple of areas that I was skeptical about walking through (bad neighborhoods and the like). Without even having to ask, she went the extra mile (no pun intended) and put together a little presentation for me on Google Docs. It contained maps, information on population, stats on crime rates, as well as other useful information. It was immensely helpful! - Jim L."
My Last Project
The last project I did was a 10-page brochure for a local Daycare. The client wanted something that outlined all the different things the daycare does for a parent handbook. She wanted to give people something to take home while they think about choosing her for all their daycare needs. The project I did before that was making a giant movie list of a specific type of movies for a clients website content.
I take Paypal & BTC. I can also be flexible if you have another payment method in mind. Don't worry, we'll talk about it and I'll quote you first and we can work out a price range that works for you.
