Searching for a good career

Updated on February 27, 2012

Now is one of the toughest times to live in, it seems. The economy has somewhat improved in a way because there are some jobs being offered but when one thinks about it, there will be more people out there looking for jobs than the many positions that open up.

This is so true in each state and city because you see many or just a few companies start closing their stores due to that they are not getting as much service as they used to get. People don't seem to really want to spend money as much as they used too, yes they still buy items but for the most part they are watching what they spend and keeping their budget controlled.

I hear of many people graduating from college, getting their degrees but there is always one question that is lingering in their minds, where do I get a job now? I'm sure that is always on someones mind when they either lose their job or even as they are looking for one as their very first job. I know when I received my first degree, I already had a job but I was looking for something better because I wanted to use the skills that I had learned, use my degree.

To help me out on looking for jobs, I was able to get on two career searching sites:
www.monster.com
www.careerbuilder.com
I am sure you have heard of these two sites, they are pretty popular in a way. I still use those two sites because even though I have a good job with benefits and that I really enjoy, I know I can find a job that will help me use the second degree that I received, a bachelors degree in management. It is a very competitive world out there when it comes to searching for jobs, I have been through several interviews but there can be employers who can be really picky on who they want to hire.

Another way to see if there are some jobs available is by just looking at your cities web site because they may have some job postings that catch your eye. For the most part they seem to offer benefits for most of the positions but it is just a matter of looking and finding what you want. There are many jobs out there, sometimes it is just the idea of looking that can really bring a person to not wanting to work. There are some people who want to the jobs to come to them and that isn't how it always works. Always keep your eye open for a job opening because you never know maybe that one job that doesn't offer as much pay as you would like may be a good start off point for you and it may open up the doors to finding other job opportunities due to the training that you have received.

Is a sad day in this country when a college student works hard for four or more years then cant find work; Hopefully we will have the leadership someday with the backbone to address this issue. Enjoyed reading your article.

Yeah, most of the companies want you to just submit the application online.
