Selling on Buy and Sell Groups

Updated on December 6, 2014

Diving Right In

Many of us are looking for ways to supplement our income, even if only by a small amount per month. One method some choose is to try to sell goods or items through online marketing. One such way, is to list items through Buy and Sell groups which are found on social media sites and sales sites such as Kijiji.

Let's Give It a Try

One way to find out how such an endeavor works is to speak to others who themselves sell online. One might research what the success rate is with this way of selling, but might soon become intimidated from even beginning to try.

What do you have to lose? What do you have to gain? Time is one of the things you will lose, at least the time you normally spend on other things. If you are going to be at all successful in this venture, you will need to invest time. There is no getting around it, you will need to take time to find the right place to advertise your wares and products.

What Will I Sell?

Targeting Your Market

Find out what people in your area are looking for. What will make your product unique? It is best to ask questions to see what people are wanting to buy, things that are hard for them to find and that are not too commonly sold in your area.

Who do you want to sell to? Is it mothers of young children, seniors, computer geeks? What you sell will be dependant on the answers to the preceding question.

It wouldn't be wise to try to sell tires on a children's clothing site. Likewise don't try to sell beauty supplies on an automotive site.

What is the number one reason you wish to sell online?

Why Not?

Why not give it a try? I would suggest you start out slowly and try your hand at selling one or two things.

Try not to be discouraged or give up after your first few attempts. It takes time to find the right price and product to sell. Also, the right time and the right place have a lot to do with it. Sometimes you may list something several times and get no reply. Don't give up. It just takes the right person seeing your ad at the right time.

Should you decide to try to sell this way, please be patient and don't expect too much to start with. That way, you will be very pleased when the sales do start coming in. Remember to give it a fair amount of time. It takes a while for people to get to know you and to trust you and your product.
