How Bill Gates created Opportunity?

Bill Gates took an opportunity and introduced the copy write law by writing a open letter to computer hobbyist community on February 1976. In the letter he emphasised that there is commercial market for computer software and so computer software should not be copied or shared without publishers permission and that may amount to piracy.Till then software sharing was influenced by ham radio legacy and hackers ethics. The legacy says that software, innivations and knowledge can be freely shared. Gates future vision and confidence of software importance in future paid off. Bill Gates intrusion is responsible for the birth of todays world famous commercial enterprise - Microsoft Corporation.More details at With this open letter Bill Gates crated an opportunity.

The second instance where Bill Gates created and en cashed an opportunity and it is the key moment for Microsoft.

The IBM main frame machines are bulk in size and dissipates lot of heat and incur excessive maintenance costs. IBM was thus planning to go for personal computer to save time, space and money to the buyer, Bill Gate visualized the potential market for Personal Computers (PC's) and licensed MS-DOS, the required operating system for PC's at that time, which he had acquired from a local computer manufacturer. IBM was forced to enter into an agreement with Bill gates to use the licensed version of MS-Dos for its IBM PC versions – the first ever PC released in 1980's..

Vision: The vision of Bill Gates and other senior executives at Microsoft excel the company to a commendable position by leaving behind his competitors like Lotus, Word Perfect. His liking towards mass storage opened up CD-Rom, OS/2,Windows and browsers like Internet and the marathon is going on.

With the above qualities anyone can become a successful entrepreneur if not Bill Gates.

Conclusions

Celebrities influence people's life. They are inspiration to upcoming youth. Read a book like 'How to win friends and influence people' ( by Dale Carnegie ) or 'In Search of Excellence' (by Tom Peters and Robert H Waterman). Read a quote like

'Arise! Awake! and stop not until the goal is reached.'

'Think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.' ( Swamy Vivekananda)

Do not leave hope in desperation. Remember that noting succeeds like success and yard mark to success is success itself. Remember that intelligence is not an action but a habit. Great people must inspire everyone and failures are stepping stones to success.
