Tips for a successful job interview
Sometimes going for a retail interview can be as stressful. From filing out an application form to the phone interview it’s a process that can be really confusing. So to help I have come up with a few helpful tips.
Preparation for the interview.
Plan your trip - You should plan your trip in advance aiming to arrive at your location up to 30 minutes before due to cover for unexpected delays.
Dress Smart - Always wear your best suite or blouse for an interview to make yourself look professional. An interview would never be impressed if your jeans and t-shirt.
Research the company - Look up the companies website and take notes about the company to take to you to the interview. It will show you are serious in working for their company.
Prepare your questions - Employers will always ask you if you have any questions so it always pays to have at least one to ready.
During the interview
After researching the company, turning up promptly and looking presentable you need to give a good impression of your. Here are a few tips you must follow:
Use positive body language - Use constant eye contact with everyone you speak to including the person at the reception desk as well as the interviewer and always use a firm handshake when first meeting your potentially new boss.
Develop a Rapport - Show your enthusiasm to your interviewer to give a good impression of yourself and to show you are open in working with your new employer.
Clarify anything you are unsure of - If you are not certain what are meant by a particular question, ask for clarification.
Ask questions - An interviewer will always ask you if you have any questions so it's always good to have at least one question prepared beforehand to ask.
