Employment and Business Projections

How Do Projections Add Up? Employment to 2020

Up until the Great Recession Collier County and Naples were described by the local government as a fast-growing area with substantial increases in businesses and residents from 2001 to 2007. By Autumn 2016, this area offered over 11,000 job listings for a market area of a population of about 21,000 total persons of all ages.

The labor force was reported by official county statistics to have grown by 32% by the end of 2009 and was projected to grow by another 18% by 2015, which it did.A number of specific jobs were found to increase substantially with these projections through 2020:

Top 10 Fastest Growing Jobs to 2020

Job titles increasing most in numbers of new jobs in Collier County are estimated by the state to be the following (bold print matches current job listing leaders):

  1. Retail Salespersons
  2. Painters, Construction and Maintenance
  3. Waitstaff: Waiters and Waitresses
  4. Carpenters
  5. First-Line Supervisors in Construction & Extraction
  6. Office Clerks
  7. Landscaping and Grounds-keeping
  8. Registered Nurses (RNs)
  9. Construction Laborers
  10. Food Prep & Service

The Employment Projections for Fort Myers are similar, although Registered Nurses appear much higher on the list, at Number 3.

South of Naples, everywhere is the National Park, National Preserve, and State Forest land, which probably shows a seasonal decline in jobs during the hottest part of the year. Tourism likely increases in autumn and winter.

The figures you mention for seeking jobs in Naples has a great potential, but wasn't it affected by the oil spill?

As I've replied before, you'd best contact the Chamber of Commerce in the city in which you want to do business. Look up the city of your choice on the Internet and go to their Chamber of Commerce Website and contact them. They should have all the information available.
