Top Social Media Female Author Iris Draak
Q. Why do you enjoy writing?*
I. D. Ah, writing.... Writing is art. It takes influences from disparate experiences, sometimes separated by many years, and uses those influences like colors in a pallet to create something colorful, rich and textured. Facts act as the canvas, the foundation, but the richness comes from the fearless application of the experiences of our live. My challenge as awriter is to create art that engages the reader and causes them to really digest the piece, to read and re-read it, ponder it, add their experience to it and come up with something profound, something that sticks with them and enriches them. The best paintings do just that; they capture us. That is the challenge and the joy of being a writer.
Q. Is there any recipe that you would like to try make in future?
I.D. the perfect French croissant would have to be at the top of the list. I am, quite frankly, intimidated by all of the layers and the Frenchness. The French,I think, are far more patient than I.
Iris's Love For Baking
Q. . How did you develop a love for baking?
I. D. My earliest memories of baking are of my mother baking bread. She would buy wheat berries in bulk, grind them in the grinder that I still use today and then bake our bread for the week. When we moved to Germany we lived in a little village. Mother didn't bake bread when we lived in the village, so I would go the bakery regularly to purchase our bread. The smell of freshly baking bread elicits a sense of love, belonging and simplicity.
Q. Do you have a simple bread recipe for beginners?
I. D. This recipe is a great confidence builder for new bread bakers.

Author Iris Draak On Staying In Shape After The Holidays
How do you stay in shape after the Holidays?
I.D. I don't do anything differently after the holidays. I try to stay balanced. My husband and I are a very active year-round. I ride my bike to and from work everyday (even in the winter), and I do short little exercises throughout my day that keep me in shape during the week. On weekends we mountain bike ride and hike when it's dry. When it's snowy we hit the mountains for some hardcore snowshoeing action.
My absolute favorite form of exercise is mountain biking. There's nothing like it. First of all you have to be outside to do it, which I love. Secondly, it challenges the mind and the body. The uphills challenge the will.
The downhills stretch the limits of fear. They also require absolute concentration. It forces my to trust myself and to relax while riding at the edge of my ability. It's the best full-body and mind workout I've ever done, and it's made me a better person with less fear.
Q. Would you consider entering a bike competition someday?
I.D. I would someday like to participate in an XTERRA race. I imagine myself crossing the finish line covered in scrapes, bruises, mud and a smile so big it takes days to fade. That's my life in a nutshell. Writing, moving and eating- about, with and for the people I love.

My Interview With Top Social Media Male Writer And Poet Examiner-1 (Kevin Zogbaum )
Examiner-1 Provides Topics That Fascinate Society
Examiner-1 is passionate about writng on hot topics which captivates society. I had the pleasure of interviewing this talented writer.
Q: Why are most people fascinated by the nature of birds, and how did you gain interest in studying the existence of these alluring animals?
E-1: Years ago we owned a house in NJ with a large yard. As I remember, when I used to sit at my computer and stop to think and would turn to look outside ( I was right next to the window).
One day I noticed the birds flying around the yard and in the trees at the border so after a few days I began to watch them. When I was repairing my bicycle I would hear their sweet voices. I began buying beginners bird books and soon started feeding them.
Next came the bird garden. I bought more bird books and going to the library, and the computer, to study them.
Some like to have their morning coffee/tea and just sit and watch the birds while they drink; others enjoy filling the feeders and watching the birds eat the seeds; then there are the ornithologists, they became interested when they were young and really study birds for life - nothing else; the list goes on. Peoples fascinations with the birds vary in many ways and perhaps a book could be written on it.
Q: After birds leave the nest, is it safe to get rid of the nest, or clean it out for future use?
E-: No, because unless you know which bird has used the nest and you have studied it thoroughly, that bird may return the following year to reuse the nest.
Even if it does not, there are still future species who use the former nests built by other birds in previous years.
About cleaning the nests. Some birds return to use their former nest and seeing it cleaned deters them from that. Some, such as the eagle, build a new one on top of the previous one
Q: Is there any way to prevent birds from hitting the window?
E-1: Yes, there are several ways. You can stick saran wrap to the (inner) window. If it is not sticking, you can spray the window with olive oil first. Outside you can put up shutters; chimes; special soap or paint which washes off - but not with rain; snowflakes; a window screen or a light net; tape strips; sun shades or awnings.
Inside you can place decals of hawks, owls or crows and various other stickers; vertical blinds.
The list goes on.
Q. What is your favorite bird to observe and why?
E-1: My favorite bird, which I chose when I first began bird watching, is the chickadee. At that time it was the Black-capped Chickadee, and the Tufted Titmouse ran a close second. They are from the same family and there are many others in their family.
Examiner-1's Favorite Poet Edgar Allen Poe
Ex-1: Edgar Allen Poe is the first - and only - person who comes to mind. Plus one of the comments which I received when I wrote a poem was that I sounded like him
Q. What inspires you to write?
Ex-1: 7th grade I won a spelling bee with "antidisestablishmentarianism". I was very happy about this. Sometime afterwards I began reading books which appealed to me. In other words, I was not interested in certain ones, such as history of war but if it was history about a subject which I studied then I might read it.
At first, I had not realized that I had a passion for writing. After I had introduced myself to fiction then I became more aware of my passion for writing because of my interest in mysteries and fantasies.. I was also drawn to it by my attractions to calligraphy and editing/proofreading.
Q: What is your advice for writers who struggle with subjects to write about?
E-1: The only suggestion(s) which I can think of for beginning writers, or writers who search for subjects, is to feel inside themselves. Think of hobbies which you do or like doing very much. What type of work have you done often, or faithfully? Look at photographs that you have on hand and get ideas from them.
