Writing about my skills.
My skills are....
In my opinion I am an extremely competent manager with lost of valuable skills. When I eventually had to create a linkedin page, I started pausing a little more than usual. That questioning feeling about my own abilities followed me around even as a child.
Is this really a skill?, am I sufficiently competent in order to advertise it to the whole world. You will never be able to tell how insecure I can be by the talking to me as I come across as a very competent person. Self doubt starts when I am alone.
According to a self help book I once read, this seems to be a common characteristic of women in general,"The little voice inside".
Thankfully there is a wealth of information that you can use in order to ensure that you create the perfect profile to increase your chances of employment.
I have to say that the most important thing to me is to be honest. Because our information is so public you need to ensure that all the information you update, add up. We have become very skeptical of people and who they claim to be, it has become very common to google someone's credentials and investigate the various profiles they have.
Skills that matter
Resumegenuis.com suggest not listing more than 5 skills, as too much information will distract. It s important to be able to display your ability to get the job, i.e what are your skills that pay the bills.
I will definitely start using this rule as my primary method when updating my various profile pages. And hope that my skills hold up in a world where job titles have changes so dramatically.
