Top Ten Affiliate Marketing Programs 2015

Updated on January 9, 2015

Affiliate Marketing Programs to Join and Earn - But Let's Be Clear... Earning Isn't so Easy.

Are you realizing your full potential with your online earnings? Maybe you just aren't using an affiliate marketing program that you are passionate about. There are many to choose from that offer millions of products, banners, and creatives to promote other businesses' stuff and earn a commission. Further monetize your blog, website, hub, or other web page with these programs that can help increase your affiliate marekting earnings! Hand-pick products and make recommendations, provide banners to suggested sites, or provide simple text links and start supplementing your income.

A word to the wise: Affiliate marketing has changed drastically since this page was originally written. Google no longer favors sites or pages that are giant link factories that are low on content. If you plan on using one of these programs to make money, be sure that you have a plan on producing valuable, high quality content that will be beneficial to the readers that can be coupled with quality products. Otherwise, you won't be making a single cent.

Does that mean that affiliate market is done for? Toast? Adios? No, but you really have to do your homework and provide something valuable in order for it work. That's why many use Amazon, as you can feature related products (or even review them) and it won't look spammy.

A very easy to use affiliate with a large number of well known companies

Linkshare is one of the biggest online affiliate advertisers today. They have an extensive list of advertisers, some big, some small. You can dig deep into your own niche and sell some relevant products using their product links, or you can add banners to your lens.

Here is a partial list of just a few of the advertisers Linkshare has to offer:

  • Chico's
  • Vera Bradley
  • CompUSA
  • British Airways
  • New Balance
  • Sony
  • The New York Times
  • Vitamin World
  • MTV Networks
  • Sirius Satellite Radio
  • Wilson's Leather
  • Hundreds more!

Ebay Enterprise - Formerly Pepperjam Network

Pepperjam Network also has hundreds of different companies to choose from, with an easy to use copy and paste banner collection that you can use on your sites, as well as other creatives to help you with your marketing.

Having switched to Ebay Enterprise, perhaps this will be a good thing for the future of this company.

Who can use affiliate marketing?

If you're here on Squidoo, you can use Affiliate Marketing to generate extra income no matter what the topic of your lens is about. Use banners, text links, images, and whatever other creatives are helpful and relevant to your lens or web page.

eBay Partner Network

People love eBay, so cash in by showing them some relevant items!

eBay has millions of items to offer, and with the partner network, you can offer some of them on your website. They have widgets, link generators and more tools to help you sell on your website or lens. You can also include banners to encourage sign-ups. Much easier is the eBay capsule that Hubpages offers here, and it's very effective.

However, it's tough to get approved for their program. It is easier to get approved for a Hubpages account and then use their Ebay capsule to earn. You can also use their Ebay capsule, which can feature Ebay products in an attractive manner.

Viglinks is a program that allows you to have access to multiple top tier companies like Ebay, Amazon, WalMart, New Egg, Overstock, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Zappos. Some of these are programs that are otherwise nearly impossible to join, but thanks to Viglinks, are a great opportunity for affiliates big and small to partner with some of the greatest merchants on the web.

An Affiliate Marketer's Poll

Do you monetize your website, lens or blog through affiliate marketing?

Clickbank, it's like Adsense...

...and makes a great supplement to your adsense advertisements. The most effective types of ads to run for Clickbank are text ads, just like Adsense. Try it out and see how it works for you!

Easy to use text based ads -- effective and simple

Clickbank is an excellent way to earn money affiliate marketing. Clickbank is in the market to sell one thing: information. Clickbank is a popular ebook site where publishers can advertise Clickbank items on their own sites/posts/pages. You'll find a multitude of topics on Clickbank, ranging from pet care to work at home opportunities, web marketing ebooks to self-help ebooks.

However, they have a bad reputation as much as a good one. While you can definitely earn quite a bit through their program, it can be tough to weed the good products from the bad. Note: You cannot link to a Clickbank item or their website from Hubpages, just an FYI.

Keep it Relevant!

There's no point in putting ads onto your site or lens that have nothing to do with the content. You won't see any conversions! Put in the most relevant products or links that you can find while still offering excellent, valuable information that your readers are looking for.

Amazon Associates Program

One of the top affiliates

Chances are you've used Amazon before to purchase something. The sheer volume of people that head over to Amazon to buy things is immense, putting them near the top or at the very top of this list of affiliate programs.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • You really have to follow their terms of service and operating agreement very closely.
  • Only promote products with good ratings. Otherwise, your reputation is on the line.
  • You can increase your commission rate by selling high quantities of items. Keep in mind the dollar value of that product doesn't matter, only the quantity.

Share a Sale

Share-a-Sale is gaining popularity as one of the best affiliate marketing programs, with a wide variety of unique products and companies that will give you a commission for advertising their products. Like any other affiliate marketing company, most of the clients in Share a Sale are paid when you produce traffic that generates a sale. Some of the companies in Share a Sale are EMS, Hoover, and many small businesses to choose from.

CJ - Formerly Commission Junction

Thousands of advertisers with simple to use banners, graphics and text ads

Commission Junction has a number of high-profile advertisers that want you to advertise their websites. CJ is the biggest affiliate marketing advertising site on the web and boasts large clients like:

  • Yahoo
  • Home Depot
  • Circuit City
  • Captial One
  • Discover
  • Citi Financial
  • The Wall Street Journal

... to name just a few. Commission Junction, or CJ, is very easy to use. You simply apply to the program you would like to use, and upon acceptance, start using the available links. Commission Junction also has an online "university" to help with your advertising campaigns. After all, the more successful you are, the more successful they are!

It doesn't matter what they buy!

With most affiliate marketing networks, it doesn't matter what the customer purchases, you'll still get a commission. What this means is if someone is reading your page and clicks a product, then clicks another product from there, you'll still get a commission! Thank the cookies.

All Posters

Advertise by using eyecatching images on your pages

All Posters is a great site that writers should take advantage of. Some of the most exciting photographs on the web can be used right on your lens, just by including a link back to Allposters. Of course, you'll be getting a commission for every sale you generate.

CafePress has millions of unique items waiting for your posts

CafePress has an affiliate program you can use through Commission Junction. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can earn extra cash by promoting your referral link. This is located in the "refer a shopkeeper" section inside your account. Simply input your store ID into the link! You'll get an excellent reward--a percentage of all sales from referred shopkeepers-- 5% for one year! That can really add up.

A little tip about the ebay capsule on Hubpages:

eBay's items are ever-changing, but that doesn't mean you don't have access to some static items that are more likely to always be there. Try browsing the eBay stores section to find items with high quantities that will be here to stay instead of disappearing at the end of the 7-day auction.

@Katie Hazel: I have no complaints about Commission Junction. I can say Clickbank is a little difficult to work with, but not CJ.

You know I've got to be honest about this -- I have tried Linkshare for years -- and I haven't yet written a lens on using them to make lots of money with affiliate marketing -- they just haven't been that successful for my niche. But, I keep trying!

Excellent information you've provided. I just signed up with LinkShare today and already have been approved by five companies, including a chocolatier, iTunes, an internet nursery (plants) and a vintner, three of which are on my funny food-related lens, Laftovers. Two dozen others are pending.

I've still got a lot to learn, but I am optimistic..

I use many of the above mentioned affilate programs, but really have not made much money on any of them. It's time consuming trying to find the best links for product specific items. I find I end up using the provided Squidoo Modules.

Great lens though for those who don't know about the various programs out there. 5*s
