It depends largely on your marketing plans, but a good lesson I have learned is to use a service that have tools to make marketing easier, such as word press, you also get the ability to do blog or static site set-up with wordpress. check out http://mojodawg.com
The thing you are probably most concerned about is the control panel stuff and when using word press, your done with it after you load word press on your domain. Almost all hosts offer the traditional website builder...even mine does..but they are limited and the real point is for them to sell you tons of marketing ad-ons on the backside
* needed tools
a host that has everything so you dont have to move stuff
a host that has high customer service ratings
high uptime guarantee
excelent tools such as:
affordable domain registry,integrated wordpress,dedicated ip,virtual servers,unlimited domains and transfers, My SQL databases,domain names,unlimited bandwidth. One big name host (i wont name does'nt own their own domain registry)
getting your own host is the right plan if you want ultimate control of your marketing and products. The free platforms are good but they rule.
Finally any good name host that offers you these abilities within you budget is good.
