   A lack of commitment to the stated goal. If you're serious about your goal, it takes daily work to achieve it.

   To reach your goals you have to be totally commited to success. You cannot give yourself reasons to fail nor believe others who may root against your efforts.
   
   Daily effort and taking steps forward even if they are small. Learn from mistakes and move on! Some people are looking for a reason to quit because they lack the desire and follow through to see the end result.
   
   Nobody would ever finish a marathon if they were not able to mentally succeed when times get tough. Dont ever give up on your dreams!

   Anxiety is No.1 I think. Then lack of self-confidence, social/family constraints and pressure.

   Procrastination! Some people put off what they can do NOW, but for no reason other than laziness.
   
   I guess fear of failure is one of the main reasons. Avoidance is a protection mechanism that protects one's self-esteem, but avoidance in itself can damage self-esteem. Kind of a catch 22 situation.

   I agree with EvansP. Procrastination is a main reason, instead of working hard to reach their goals, people tend to want the immediate reward, so they do something they feel good about it.
   
   Lack of organization can also be a reason, sometimes people have a goal, but they don't think how to reach it, they just want "it" and fast.
