Yes! As a young child I dreamed of being a marine biologist and working with animals. I finally came close in midlife when I made a career change to professional dog trainer! The kind of dog training I do is the kind of training used by marine mammal trainers. It is called "clicker training." (See my hub about clicker training.) There are schools to learn how to train animals - the best, in my opinion and in the opinion of many top trainers is the Karen Pryor Academy. Moorpark College (http://www.moorparkcollege.edu/) in California has a program which specifically trains students to work with wild animals. However, most animal trainers start out as apprentices at a zoological parks and aquariums. Here is a listing of job openings: http://www.aza.org/joblistings/.
