    How long does it take to get a class A CDL?

    What's the quickest way to get a class A commercial driver's license?

    Not long at all, usually a month or less.  If you know of a CDL driver that drives long haul, they can teach you under their license.  You take the test both written and driving, of course you have to get a manual to study.

    Sarra's answer is a good one. In addition, Roadmaster offers 3-week and 4-week courses to men and women that earn them a CDL A or B and often a job with a company after receiving it. Sometimes, the company will even pay the tuition. Twelve schools operate around the USA, with some scholarships available, as well as Veteran's Training under VA financing.     Roadmaster did a very good job in the 1990s - 2000s, when my employer referred large numbers of people to the classes and furnished tuition for them under the Job Training Partnership Act.  WIA (county jobs offices) would be a agency to contact for assistance at the county level at this time and funds may or may not be available to help.  Good luck!

    In Texas get the CDL manual, study sections 6 and 14 for the class A.   Also, go on the truckers' websites and take the free tests until you get 90s and 100s.  Know the weight, width, and height rules because the State asks questions on regs not on the truckers' sites.   Then go to Allen, TX and rent a semi, look up CDL truck rental.  They got automatic trucks with pup trailers.

    You don't learn like a school but it's fast.  Good luck.
