There have been several of them in a 40+ year career, but the worst was/is the slick-tongued devil who sneaks around behind everyone's back trying to get someone fired usually because of a mild disagreement that anyone else would be over in 5 minutes This person flatters management into thinking he is the good guy, and by the way, female managers fall easily under his spell. Next thing you know, you are fighting for your job. He gets around to everyone eventually. Other employees he hasn't gotten to yet think you are exaggerating about your experience, until they experience him, that is. The problem is, you never know when he is sticking knife in your back because that is when he is being the nicest to you. We've all learned to react to his niceness with extreme caution and mistrust. It has taken upper-level management over 10 years to catch on to his antics and wonder why there was such dissention in the ranks. So while he isn't so easily believed now, he has certainlly dealt misery in the last 10 or 12 years.
