Hi, Zsuzi, First off, I work at home as a freelance writer, so my office is a dozen or so steps from my bedroom. My dress code is one or another variation on slouchy, soft sweats or pajamas which further reduces my commute time.
First thing in the office (shared with a cranky, loud-mouthed cockatiel, by the way),
I'll run through the morning emails. I'm looking for writing gigs and feedback on articles already at work on the web, and these get immediate attention. The rest get filed away, usually to be trashed at a later date.
Next is checking my various pages on social media, mainly Google+, Linkedin and Facebook. I try not to spend too much time here unless I'm behind in the weekly Angry Birds tournament!
Then it's on to firing up my HubPages page, checking my notifications, a quick look at how my published hubs are doing, see what's new and/or interesting in "questions".
From there I'll either work on articles in progress, edit drafts or research pending pieces.
