When I was really young (around 8 years old), my Mom was a big Elvis fan. I saw every movie he made, heard every song he sang. And I was convinced at that point in my life I would grow up, marry him and live happily ever after. Not much later (11-12 years old) I had convinced myself that if Donny Osmond ever met me I would marry him and live happily after. Then at 14 I decided I wanted to be a famous country music singer. That lasted until I entered a couple of talent shows and found out I had the worst stage fright ever. At 16, I read "The Light of the Western Stars" by Zane Grey. Oh, what a wonderful story about a single woman who inherited a ranch out west and ran it by herself with a crew of cowboys. I dreamed about that life quite a bit. Have been through many things since then. Now, I am something I wasn't even considering back then. A homemaker with wonderful grown children and 10 grandchildren. And, I am truly happy with that.
