What has happened to customer service? Has anyone noticed the poor quality in most cases?
Yes, I have noticed that, DRGlenn. I'm not sure what it is but work ethic is not what it used to be. When I cannot even get a smile and eye contact from a store clerk, it makes me not want to go back there. I went to Caribou for a coffee the other day and wanted to tell the girl, "maybe you should think about working somewhere else." But I didn't. That Caribou is the most convenient when I'm at my office. What a drag.
Constantly - this is an issue. I make it a point that either I will leave an establishment and the negative service will turn into great service, or I get the employee's name, manager's name, establishment contact info, and higher ups contact info and i get to writing my letter, email, and calling.
Yes, Janshares and ReneeDC1979! Thanks for your responses. I agree.
I even thought about doing a sort of secret shopper for companies, because I believe most store owners are oblivious to the treatment of some of their consumers. It's ridiculous.
As for the office atmosphere, there certainly needs to be an attitude adjustment within. I've worked at several organizations over the years and you would not believe the lack of internal customer service.
This is my question - How are we able to keep jobs with bad attitudes?
What is happening to the workforce?
I work for a company that simply will not tolerate it!
That is a great questions - at my last job, I got in trouble for not 'following the crowd' and going out of my way to do right by the clients. I am happy to say "I love my career now" the grass is greener.
In most cases, this has been the management of the establishment. I have seen that if a manager pushes customer service then the people will too. It is sad to say that you will find inconsistency even with the same companies. Call and voice your opinion to let someone know. As once part of the retail world, the prinicple for all is customer service. Some established need some improving though.
