How far do you commute to work?
I drive 40 miles to work and though my car gets pretty fair gas mileage, I have to work one day just to pay for the gas. Of course, I work only five hours a day and not 8. What do you think? How far do you commute? Are higher gas prices effecting you?
I went to a job interview this week that is 50 miles, one way. The trip would take me through downtown Houston, which is a headache during rush hour. It would also cost me approximately $30.00 per day in gas. That equates to $150/week in gas costs and 500 miles per week on my car. I only had to take that trip one time to determine that it's not worth the cost.
Not to mention wear and tear on your car/miles etc.
I drive about 7 1/2 miles one way for my commute and it only takes me about 15 minutes. I consider myself lucky to be able to avoid most of the traffic because the bulk of my route is on the country two-lane roads. SO far, the gas prices haven't had that big of an impact because of the short commuting distance.
I walk to work. Its amazing and a good way to keep my shape in good form.
I work from home -- the door to my studio and office space is about 15 feet from my front door . That said, I do have to work about a half day a week (my days are 10 hours long) to pay for visitation switch-offs for my son -- a 150-mile round trip drive, done four times a month.

How far is too far for a day trip?If you don't want to spend the night somewhere, how far is too far for just a day trip? We are considering making a 3 1/2 hour drive to the beach spending 3-5 hours there then making the ride back. Too far with kids? Would it be too far for you?

Do you drive at least one hour to work, (one way), and if so, how do you cope with the gas prices?I drive approximately 60 miles to work one way. Does anyone else have that long of a commute and if so, how do you economize with the gas prices?

Do Jews in rural areas drive lots of miles for Temple or just skip it?I'm curious, Since Synagogues/Temples aren't in every city, what do Jews do that live 30+ miles from their local Temple? Skip or make the drive?

How far would you drive to meet a friend from a social network for the first time?Either if you are already on a road trip, how far out of your way would you go or just to pick up and drive to meet someone in person you have gotten acquainted with over the web.
