Do you believe Google Adwords best practices and guides are designed to make you pay more per click?


I've been using Google's Adwords to grow my business and I have noticed by following Google's guidelines and suggestions I end up paying more per click. Google implies that I should focus on the few keywords that are most relevant to my business. My small and focused list is the heart of my advertising but my cpc is too high to get sufficient traffic. In response I am building a more broadly related keyword list and plan to bid much lower. I hope to get the volume of traffic I need by getting less expensive clicks from more keywords. Can I get some advice? Has this worked for you?
