Basics of SEO that every website owner should know are as follows :
Title tags are the most important ranking factor on your page. It's critical to get them right. Proper title tag strategy is comprised of three factors:
° Prominence. The closer your keywords are to the beginning of the title tag, the better.
° Proximity. Your keywords should be grouped together, in the exact order that you anticipate someone will enter them into a search.
° Density. Repeating your keyword in some variation later in the title tag will often lead to improved rankings. But don't overdo it by keyword stuffing your title tag. Stick to no more than one repetition.
As we've covered many times, the description meta tag is the most useful. (And, the NOODP tag is now useful for reasons that we discuss in this month's updates section.) All others are basically useless in terms of having any effect on search results or link descriptions.
The point to remember is that the description meta tag often provides your webpage's description in the search engine results pages (SERPs). Therefore it's important to use it to provide a compelling description that motivates people to click your link within the search results. This factor is far more important than any ranking boost that keywords placed within this meta tag may or may not provide.
