BP is learning a valuable lesson from the Gulf disaster. They will carry their lesson to other parts of the world...you'd think they will.(I don't think so). I'm ranting now...
The safety requirements for BP are no different than they are for other oil platforms. From the news reports, BP has been fighting regulations for quite a while. They took shortcuts they knew were dangerous and they are believed to have closed their ears to their own employees who tried to warn the upper management of BP.
So what happened? The *&^* mess we are now experiencing in the the gulf.
No BP did not care about the consequences of what they were doing, they cared about the $$$$. Even with the fines they will be paying, they won't see a significant loss in revenue.
