   one of the biggest problems with the U.S. and Canada is the need for unions. yes there was a time when we needed them but now they do more harm then good. with unions comes high wages, benefits, etc., which drives up the cost of products. other countries make the same thing for much cheaper , so of course we buy those products.

   Stop exporting jobs to China.
   
   Workers in the West (I'm a Brit) are always going to lose out to Chinese workers because wage levels in China are directly controlled by the state.
   
   China has managed to combine elements of the free market system with the command economy; a situation that western investors are exploiting to the full. 
   
   Your country (it's the same here) calls on you to be patriotic whilst the money men sell you out.
   
   The recent downturn was caused by this process going to far as depressing wages in the West and putting people out of work meant that western markets began to collapse: China had nowhere to export to as western workers couldn't afford Chinese goods or to pay their mortgages.

   Hell even min. wage jobs are hard to come by now a days, at least around the Industrial area like Ohio, Michigan, Indiana etc. The only way we are going to dig out of this massive hole is to quit wasting money keeping these giant companies alive. Let them die, yes in the short term it will hurt more however there are other companies who then will step up to take their place. While this occurs the money saved could better be spent on the creation of new jobs that would (only aid) in the recovery process. That is of course if that money is used correctly unlike some in office currently.

   Get to work on the infrastructure for one and bail out the people NOT the banks. The people spend money, the banks hoard it. Peace!!

   Our current government administration should stop demonizing businesses for making a profit.  Make business regulation more business-friendly. 
   
   I really don't see why it was necessary for the government to start requiring small businesses including e.g. dentists, mom-n-pops to notify them if those establishments extend terms for paying off balances beyond a few payments.
   
   If it weren't for profit, there would be very few businesses willing or able to hire others.  I've yet to find poor people who hire others for pay.
