I say go for it, unless you’re the Vic Mackey type. In fact, I regret not making that choice. A society based upon law and order requires a dedicated force on the streets, protecting the weak from the predators, and removing the a__holes that prey on innocent people; good men and women willing to be on the front lines of the never-ending battle against evil. I may be an idealist, but I believe you can make a difference, be a positive role model, maybe save some lives, and get the bad guys.
However, much depends on the individual’s personality. Face it, some (a minority) want to be a cop because they have a violent streak,or they are natural born bully’s, or have a need to control others. Some racists (of any color) seek an outlet for their racism, and a paycheck to boot.(literally).
It’s my opinion that 90% of our men and women in blue are in a high risk, underpaid job, and I support them at all times except when I’m getting another ticket. Then, I…oops, out of space.
