Stress is neither, it just is. It is part of the flight or fight, system and can save our lives; however, if you are stressed all the time, it can kill you.

very bad... stress can kill you and put you through depression!
This sort of depends, as by psychological definition there is: good stress, and bad stress. So stress can be either.
