What Are Some Tips For Selling Avon?
Fortunately there are ton's of Avon selling tips, both online and off, for getting more customers and building your Avon business. I'll be going over some of the techniques that I've personally used to help build a successful Avon business.
You've just signed up as an Avon Representative, received your kit full of brochures, samples and sales aids, and now you are ready to start selling. You ask your best friend, your mother and your next door neighbor to place an order, but now you are left scratching your head. What do you do now to find customers?
I won't be advising you to do anything that will take you out of your comfort zone (like standing outside a subway exit handing out brochures < yes I really read that on a forum) because you know what? That won't work, people will just dump your brochure in the nearest garbage can, as soon as you are out of their sight. And really - I was far too shy to do something like that anyway.
What I WILL go over are some of the tried and true selling tips that worked for me, so that you can be on your way to becoming a successful Avon rep that's actually making money.
I'll also be recommending some of the best Avon guides that contain different strategies, that will also help boost your income by providing some alternative ways to find customers and build your business.

Online or Face to Face?
The first thing you need to estabilish is if you're going to sell Avon by giving brochures to friends and family, or if you are going to do it exclusively online.
If you are going to sell online, then you need to be careful of Avon's rules about what you can and can't say in regards to their brand. However, that isn't going to stop you sending people to your online store to buy from you. I've got some tips below about how to gain an online presence by creating reviews of Avon products or makeovers etc.

Avon Selling Secrets is a great guide for Avon Reps looking to increase their customer base and get more orders.
It contains seven main strategies for finding more customers and getting more sales. Each strategy outlines what you'll need (how many brochures/samples) and the expected outcome.
It also goes over the main issues affecting new Reps including:
- When you should and shouldn't toss brochures, and what customer return it really brings you.
- Tips on how to get customers to open your brochure.
- The number one most effective method I've used to substantially increase my business in just a few months.
Step 1 - Evaluate Your Current Prospects That Might Buy Avon
Selling Tips for Starting Out
Usually the first thing you are told when you join Avon is to make a list of everyone that you know that might be interested in buying Avon from you.
At first I was unsure about this, after all, who wants to annoy your friends and family to buy things, but it is actually very good advice as people buy from people that they like (and presumably your friends and family already do like you!)
You can be non-pushy about this too. All you need to do is tell them that you are now an Avon representative and that if they ever want anything to let you know. Give them the current brochures when they come out, but don't be pushy about it.
More than likely, since they ARE you friends, they WILL buy from you. Just be friendly about it and don't let Avon be the only thing you talk about. So you could say something like, "Here's the latest brochure, let me know if you want anything this month, and now enough about that, what happened with Debbie, did she find out that her husband was taking dance lessons behind her back ...." (or something like that! LOL)
Avon Video Tips - How To Highlight Special Offers
In this video, Avon Representative Gail Reynolds shows you how to fold your brochure pages, so that the the special offers you want to highlight are immediately visible when you are handing them out.
This can help 'hook' the customers interest when they see things like 'free gift' or '50% off'.
Birdie Jaworski's book
Has got some good tips. and each tip has it's own page with a graphic so it's nicely laid out.
The tips are good, but it's the stories about Birdie's adventures that are the most fun to read (I used to read her blog, and it was hilarious all the adventures that she got up to).

Selling Avon Online
On this type of page, you review a product, or range of products.
For example, you might make a lens about the Anew Reversalist Line of Skincare Products and call your lens Anew Reversalist Review (or something like that).
Then you can talk about each product in the range and your experiences / thoughts on it.
The best review lenses are truthful, entertaining and unique.
The Solve A Problem Page
The second type of page that does well is the one I call 'solve a problem'. The problem which obviously the Avon product is going to fix. So "how to smooth out wrinkles", "how to get rid of pimples" and so on.
You main focus on this type of lens is to talk about the problem, and then give solutions to solving it including recommending one (or more) Avon products that can help.
(With a link from the product through to your Avon website obviously!)
The best solve a problem lenses tend to be conversational and helpful (not salesy or spammy).
You don't have to try to sell any particular product, just offer it as a recommended solution.
If you are friendly and helpful you'll make many more sales.
