Content Mills List

Best Content Mills for Online Writers

As a professional web content writer, I'm often asked "where should I start" or "what is the best place to submit articles online for pay?" While the "best" is subjective, I do have experience when it comes to writing for so-called content mills for freelance writers. If you are looking for up front pay for submitting articles online, rather than waiting for revenue to kick in, there are multiple options depending on your skills and background. This page serves as a guide to help you sort out any online scams, from real, reputable places where you can earn money from home writing articles.

Beware of Scams

NEVER pay for a program that promises you'll earn big money writing from home. The only person who's earning is the guy who scammed you!

Definition of: Content Mills

According to About.com, a "Content Mill" is defined as: "a slang term used by freelance writers and given to a company, website or organization designed to provide cheap website content, usually at a significant profit to themselves, and usually by paying very low rates to writers."

Is this an accurate definition? Sometimes. While there are "content mills" that pay upwards of $15 per an article (about 500 words), others pay just a few dollars. Before sitting down and pouring your heart and soul into an article, read the fine print! It doesn't hurt to look for reviews of the particular website you may be thinking about working for... (More about this later)

Nice article. Would be even more helpful if you could inform your readers which sites are solely meant for Americans and Europeans and also those which accept writer applicants globally.
