eCommerce Startup a great way to sell

If you own your own business or dream of owning your own business, you will need ideas for ways to generate sales. Traditional businesses should consider all options of sales routes and an ecommerce startup is an excellent way to generate business online. It is not as simple as setting up a website designed for ecommerce, you also need to drive visitors to your site and to do this you will need to learn how to utilise seo.

You can of course hire an seo expert who will help you to design your site so that the search engines will find it and index it in their search results.

If you plan on doing the work yourself you do need to research ways to drive traffic to your site. This can be very time consuming but if you create an seo strategy and stick to it you should be able to drive potential customers to your ecommerce site in an efficient way.

Some things you should keep in mind when starting an ecommerce site are:

The Website design is very important - it must be easy to navigate, people who struggle with your navigation will leave your website. It also needs to load quickly, as website browsers we are an impatient bunch, you need to ensure that your site is very easy to use. Make sure the website design fits with your target audience,

Create a blog attached to your ecommerce site and update it regularly. Google and other search engines love new content and it will help keep you relevant in the eyes of the big search engines.

Market your site, social bookmark, create a facebook page and tweet about your subject regularly. Write Articles and press releases and submit them to the big article and press release sites. Write Guest Blog Posts on other high Page ranking blogs. These techniques will give you exposure as a specialist in your niche, this will also improve your search engine results for your website.

Use Viral ideas. A lot of websites create content that they know people will socially bookmark and share with each other. If you do this right you could drive a LOT of traffic to your site.

Some ideas are :

A catchy or funny video that people will want to view - for ideas go to youtube and look for the videos with the highest amount of views.

Create infographics on your website that people are allowed to download, put your website address on them.

Create interesting blog posts like "how to...." or "Top 5" or a humerous post. People love how to guides and lists, they attract a lot of backlinking

Write an ebook, make it available for free download - this is also a great way to build an email list

Add Java script Calculators to your website, people love them and they will come back again

Create a blog post with lots of great pictures in them, then pin them to pinterest. Pinterest can drive a ton of traffic to your website if people like the pictures. Its worth spending the time building up a following there.

In your blog make sure that you write interesting well written posts, Google in particular are penalising blogs with bad grammar

Have fun with it, its a learning curve some things will work and others wont, there is no "one size fits all" method, find out what drives traffic to your business, rinse and repeat.

My final tip is "Don't give up!"
