What should I do to get funds for starting a business?
Your first step would be to prepare a Business Plan. Whether you are going to go to a bank for a loan or pitch a presentation to venture capitalists or investors, you will need to start with a plan. There are plenty of examples of and templates for business plans online.
Another possible consideration is to contact S.C.O.R.E. (Service Corps. of Retired Executives) who will help guide you along the way. They are part of the Small Business Association plan for new business entrepreneurs.
Most people tap savings or family members for startup capital from what I understand (although be careful about borrowing money from family). Do your best to avoid debt. If you have to cut your lifestyle significantly and accumulate some cash to fund your startup.
